2026 Recruiting: Caden Pierce (Transfer) potential interest

I see the vision. Kid can obviously play.

He belongs athletically, and has good instincts and feel for the game. I just worry that his athleticism won't be enough to make up for his lack of size. He'll probably rebound fine, but may struggle to finish and score against bigger guys that aren't Ivy League level athletes.

I would definitely take him, but we'll need to make sure next year's squad is bigger at the 1, 2, 3, and 5 positions.

I think the 1,2,and 5 are penciled in with Silas, Solo, Eric. I wonder what we do at the 3. I big jumbo 3 in the mold of Yaxel would be perfect.

Cuz those are falling off trees...........

He's legit 1 of 1. Why do you think I was talking about them? They have things no one else does - best defensive rim protecting 5 in CBB, a versatile 6'9" wing and then a beast of a 4 that could play the 5. Their only real hole is a second playmaking guard/ball handler.

Obviously. It doesn't mean guy like that wouldn't be perfect.

This is the first recruitment I can remember where it seems like at least 75% of the board is rooting against him picking UConn

I feel like the entire Darius Adams journey was this way. We were kinda "eh" from the start, and we were disappointed because his commitment meant that Thomas and Lewis were most likely out. Then his McDAA game was legit concerning, he decommited and most of the board exhaled and thought it was for the best.

starters: Silas, Solo, Jaylin, Eric, Colben

backups: Jayden, Junior, Jacob F, Jacob R, Rrezon, Uros

Would mean 4 portal pickups would change starting and backup lineups. Pierce would be great but need another Mr. Smith, another big 5 and another big 4 at least.

And yet he is a starter at MD and doing fairly well.

McD game he had minor minutes.

When you lay out the roster like that, imo, we need to grab some big fish in the portal to be the type of championship-caliber team we want to be. That roster is lacking some impact players.

We know we'll bring in a 5 of some sort, I'd imagine a veteran PG, and then I'd hope for an impact 3 or 4.

We need a starting SF. A big 6'7-6'8 do it all type of guy. I wonder what Jamier Jones is up to next season.

He would barely play if he was here. He's shooting 34/25/74. Maryland is atrocious - they've lost their last three games by an average of 31 points. It was best for everyone for him to go elsewhere. No ill will toward the kid. But I feel like the board was underwhelmed from the start with him, was openly surprised he was ranked as high as he was, and the McD game finalized the thought process that he wouldn't be an impact player here.

Count me in the 25 percent. Better player than ross and Stewart. Hopefully ross and Stewart blossom next year but need reinforcements as well. Don’t want a repeat of last year’s flawed roster

Is he? He's been given the green light in a throw away season. I think he's shooting 34% from the floor and 25% from three on a ton of volume for a freshman. He averages one assist in 26 minutes, 2 turnovers. The little I've watched, all he does is ball hog with a lot of inefficient moves as if he's trying too hard. I find him to be a pretty dreadful looking freshman. His efficiency rating on Maya is in the red on the overall. Kid has not had a good year so far. Maybe the run helps him into year 2. He rebounds well for a guard. The three points shooting numbers are indicative of what we saw in the McD AA game where he airballed a couple. He feels like the kind of kid that may need more than two years to come into his own, as he does have some physical talent.

I wouldn't say he's doing well. He's putting up some scoring numbers on high volume and terrible percentages, with a 1:1 A/TO ratio. He's eventually going to be a player, and the early playing time will help him get there, but he can only get that playing time in a situation like MD -- a bad team with no other options.

I get a little Shonn Miller vibes from him. Undersized 4 who excelled at Ivy League, highly efficient rebounder for his size, not an outside threat but still has more of an offensive game than a back down big. Kind of like a Bryce Hopkins mold.

This staff doesn't swing and miss on many targets and their actions speak louder than their words. There's a reason why they're interested in Pierce as a Program fit. Plenty of time to go to the portal after the season ends if CP lands somewhere else.

Timberlake, Mahaney? Hurley holding onto someone that feels like an AK profile in waiting.

Doesn't miss on 'many targets" re: recruiting them to the Program. Seems to me that there's a reason why Dan Hurley has recruited so few HS kids for next season. Has a blended approach between portal adds/returnees/and HS seniors which has proven to be successful. A lot of BB still to be played this season and roster decisions to be made after the season ends.

Old news on Timberlake/Mahaney.. Haven't even thought about them until you brought them up.

Shonn Miller a good example. There are so many examples of Ivy League or similar level players doing just fine at higher-profile programs. The average Ivy League player, no. But if you can play, you can play
