2026 Recruiting: Caden Pierce (Transfer) potential interest

Makes sense. Get Ivy league degree from Princeton then transfer to NIL and profit sharing friendly UConn with a year to play. Even if, it's a one year deal.
It's too bad that the path he's taking, which is in his best interest, hurts all associated with his current program, the school and fanbase.

Imagine how we would feel if this happened with our best player. Most of us would understand his choice, but would be bummed to lose our best player.

Bummer. Have no problem of a player taking advantage of the school. Ivies want to float there degree as a lure, then don’t get upset when a player games the system.

Sure, it stinks for the fan base. But transfers are just part of the game now.

Caden Pierce is severely overrated. 11 ppg last year in the Ivy League 😂. If he was anything that arrogant Ivy folks truly think he is, Princeton would’ve done a better job giving Yale a run for their money the last two years. Let him go elsewhere, UConn doesn’t need him. He ain’t Bill Bradley for call crying out loud, and isn’t even close to Xaivian Lee, either.
How about letting the coaching staff determine his basketball ability. If (and it is a big if) the staff is interested I would hate to have a prospect read derogatory comments such as yours.

But this is more about red-shirting than the transfer portal.

Difference is that he's taking a red-shirt during Senior year, preserving eligibility. That has been that way since before I went to UConn and red-shirted my senior year (tennis) so yeah, I could have transferred after graduation but as an individual decision I went to work and played in some pro-am tourneys for extra bread early on.

But the extra year of eligibility is 100% on red-shirt; the transfer portal is just the pipe to transfer regardless.

Maybe we get him and that Wolf kid

He battled injury a bit last year. Had a grade 3 ankle sprain in December. But was a bit up and down even before that - although the ups included 21 and 14 in a win over Rutgers.

His sophomore year he looked the part - averaged 16 and 9 on 54 percent shooting with 22 in the nit against UNLV.

the Ivies were never in my wheelhouse so have zero knowledge. But don't most school's let you transfer credits toward your degree. so if you get 3/4 credits, that is where you graduate from. They are insinuating that if he left this past year, he wouldn't get the Princeton degree. because he did 1 year elsewhere. Unless it's a uniquely IVY thing, it seems weird.

I had friends transfer law schools...the place the spent 2/3 of their time is where the degree was from

I'm going with the UConn coaching staff having better insight on this issue than random poster DC23 with two total posts. Did Pierce steal your lunch money in 7th grade or did you just not get accepted at Princeton?

Doubling down, says 3 top 15 teams are after him. Will say he’s never gone this far to claim inside knowledge of something that I’ve ever seen.

The kid can play, not sure he’d start for us, but if he’s really just trying to play high level ball, we could do worse.

"There will not be a better portal get"

Yes there will

I’ve talked to him personally, he has information on Ivy League players because he’s commentated on Yale games and represents some of their coaches. I trust him on Pierce.
Maybe so, but he's been almost 100% wrong on his Uconn predictions

He’s probably exaggerating our interest, but it wouldn’t shock me if someone who knows Pierce in Ivy circles told him there’s been contact and mutual interest.

Surprised at the negative comments. He seems like a great fit for our offense and culture.

A high level athlete like him is obviously training all year, he’s not sitting around eating m&m’s.
What's wrong with sitting around eating m&m's (as long as are peanut)?

What about Reibe and Jaylin Stewart? He's not going to start in front of those two is he? Seems like a lot of disruption for a one year iffy player. Staff did a great job assembling this roster. We are losing Malachi and possibly Solo and/or Demary as well as Tarris. We need to think about filling those three or four slots and probably through the portal.

UConn is likely interested in him as a reserve-ish 4 behind Stewart. The staff has been able to convince a number of fine players to accept those kind of roles, we will see how amenable Pierce is to such an offer.
