BYU Post Game Thread

Good win. Shouldn’t have been that close. Seems we were not running our offense as effectively in the second half. Got tired? Not cutting hard. We need more of Salis going to the rim. He seems to have a good midrange game. We’re not focused when we play prevent offense.

Never should’ve been this close. Yea, we beat a top 10 team, but that team didn’t play a starter and their big was out of commission early in the game. Yes, we are down Mullins, so that can somewhat of a wash…

I dislike blowing a 20 point lead. Very bad finish to this game, but happy with the dub no matter what

Solo has to be smarter than he was today. That was a boneheaded foul that spark their run.

Also, the stage looked a little too big for Stew. He looked nervous throughout the game.

Can't wait to get Mullin back. The shooting and spacing he'll provide will do wonders for the offense.

Sloppy first 5

Great next 20

Sloppy next 10(should have put them away in this time span)

Clutch last 5 by Demar, Jr. He’s that guy we didn’t have last year.

Team needs to clean up all the stupid fouls
early in the half. Putting teams in the bonus for 12mins is gonna burn them in the ass.

Thought they went away from Reed who was just having his way down low all game though.

I think we took our foot off the gas a little bit, but I think people are massively overreacting to that 2nd half. BYU is a very good team. If the roles were reversed and made a big comeback in the 2nd half I don't think we'd be saying it was because BYU stopped trying

We have a tendency to slow down the offense with a double digit lead. Need to break that habit as it seems to get everyone out of rhythm

All in all a great win. Ross was excellent off the bench minus the fouls. Silas and AK were huge, and Tarris is one of the best bigs in the country.

It’s infuriating to watch us nurse leads and get passive. It’s a regular thing. With an absolutely dominant big in Reed, why is he setting a zillion screens at the three point line while we go passive? And, why can we still not inbound the ball or handle any pressure? Our coach is a PG and we have multiple point guards on the court. I just don’t get it.

I think solo was trying to do too much tonight. Sometimes these games where you know basically every NBA team has their people in the building you press trying to show what you can do instead of playing your game.

They switched me off as well here in South Carolina. We've got our own Heidi Game - just like the Raiders game 57 years ago. I screamed from here. I'm sure you guys in New England heard me. We ought to put Dave Benedict on this so it doesn't happen again.

Top 10 win. Let’s enjoy it.
It’s hard when UConn absolutely kicked their ass for 25 out of 30 minutes and is up 15 to 20 points and then can’t play defense for the last 10 and almost loses … but hey didn’t lose so I will savor that.

The problem wasn’t a stagnant offense. We scored the same number of points in each half, 43.

The problem was all the fouls - same issue as last year - and the corresponding patch work roster in the second half.

Gotta clean it up on D

But we never blew it.

AK looks like what I expected him to look like last year. Everything he's doing offensively is with purpose and he looks super confident. I know there was talk this offseason on here about AK settling back more into a 4th option type of player and not one of our leading scorers, but I always disagreed with that, no reason he shouldn't be a 17ppg type of player with the way he looks right now.
