If you want to try some great local breweries definitely you should start at Back East in Bloomfield, then Hooker in Hartford, then City Steam. City Steam is downtown and you can eat there, or Dish next door. Trumbull Kitchen is another great restaurant a couple blocks away, Agave for Mexican, or Black Eyed Sally's for Cajun style are also within walking distance downtown.

Back East and Hooker only do tastings and sometimes tours. City Steam is a full restaurant with a comedy club downstairs.

If you're looking for food to bring to your tailgate and you're staying in or near downtown Hartford definitely visit Bear's BBQ.

Why in the world would BYU fans need a list of bars to go to? We are the most sober fan base in the nation and keep it classy. It's Utah St. fans and especially Utes fans that would be out looking for bars.

FYI, we serve beer in our stadium. If you can't handle being around heathens, please enjoy the game from the comfort of your own couch.

If you make it down to the shoreline and like lobster try Lenny and Joe's in Clinton or for more seaside outdoor atmosphere Abbots in Noank.
Best dive bar/seafood Lenny's Indian Head Inn in Branford.

The "family freindly" lots alluded to above really arent all that family friendly. Kids cannot throw a ball or frisbee and there's hardly any drinking games because cars are packed in like sardines. The only thing to do really is make your food, drink, and talk. I've seen guys pull out a poker table, but that's not much fun for kids. Even if a part of the blue lot is not yet being filled up (as in it is roped off), security chases them out. Basically, the rows are too close together. I think they should reconfigure the Blue lots so that three current rows are made into two, but that's just me. On the other hand you are no further than 200 feet away from the gate.

So basically, the Red Lot is more conducive for family friendly activities (in terms of room), but the actual activities going on and the language...not so much. Whereas the Blue Lot is a bit more tamed, audio-wise. But boring as duckK for an 8 year old.

BTW The Basketball Hall of Fame is in Springfield MA which is more like 30-40 minutes north of Hartford. I don't want you getting off at the exit for Bradley Intl. Airport expecting to see a Larry Bird exhibit.

Softball fields, plenty of room. Kids throwing balls, frisbees, drinking games You might be describing the blue lot, but not the softball fields. (aero club).

From downtown Hartford the BBall HOF is 30 minutes tops. It's right off the highway. If they stay at the Marriott next to the convention center, they can exit the parking lot and get right on 91 north. The HOF is also literally right next to the highway south of downtown Springfield.

Let's give correct info to outsiders. The original Lenny & Joe's is in Madison, outside of Hammonasset State Park (a half mile west of the Clinton Town line) Their second location is in Westbrook (Just east of the Clinton town line).

And the third location is in New Haven down by long wharf.

If you want great Northeast pizza and microbrews you can kill 2 birds with one stone at Bar in New Haven.

To avoid the bickering over how far that is from Hartford, it's about 40 minutes south, give or take 7 hours.

Actually, it's the 4th location. The 3rd location is in Rhode Island.

Had no idea.
