Tough to call it a "world record" when no one but the NFL and Norway have done it since 1912. Impressive to be sure but not like there are a ton of challenges to the throne.

WTF.

It's easy to call it a world record if it's a world record, f---face.

Write "Don't be that guy" in big letters on your computer monitor. It'll remind you not to be that guy in threads like this.

An event that takes place once a year at the combine and in Norway. 100 long jumpers would probably eclipse it tomorrow if anyone cared to. They don't. No one but the NFL or Norwegians have since the 1912 Olympics. I'd like to see his time in the Hoplitodromos.

Marquise Goodwin who was the 2 time reigning NCAA long jump champion and an Olympic long jumper ran a 4.27 40 in 2013 at the combine and had a broad jump of 11 feet, more than a foot shorter than Byron Jones. As Fishy said, "Don't be that guy," it only makes you look foolish and petty.

Your numbers argument would have more merit if the small population of people tested weren't training their bodies to develop the muscles for conditions that the broad jump is representative. This guy broke a record that uber athletes were specifically training their bodies to perform. It's an incredible feat.

Stanley Robinson is still the better athlete ...

Who holds the record for a broad jump in an NFL game?

Hope his record setting performance translates into a high draft pick. Way to go, Byron!
