This also makes me a little sad since it really marks the end of the Edsall era. Who strikes you as the next pro on our squad? Obi perhaps and then who else? The PP years were worse than we thought

Love or hate the Cowboys, they're a high profile franchise. More chances to see Byron Jones on national TV. Good for Byron and good for UConn.

Nice... Another first rounder from UConn... now if UConn can schedule in conference teams from the B1G!!

I would love to see the day when I see UConn get picked #1 in the NBA, MLB, NHL and NFL drafts in the same year!!

The World would be a much better place if the lowlifes in the comment sections of Courant articles fell off the face of Earth.

That DesSez guy makes his living there calling our WBB players fat. He also dubbed KO a "freeloader" and demanded that Geno be hired to take his place. He must be on some really strong stuff.

What's even more insane, a certain percentage of them are paid to be that disgusting, some just end up their naturally... heh

Congrats to Byron.

I had to laugh watching the video tcf15 posted. At the 1:30 mark vs Louisville in the center of the screen is #46 who turns his palms upward and clearly doesn't know where to go. I assume it's Vann unless he's changed numbers over the years. That sums up the PP years.

LOL....it's like that scene at the end of Rudy where he finally gets in on the kickoff and then the D comes out and ....he throws his hands up.....what do I do/ What do I do? Stay in there you dope!!

That is a funny and accurate comparison.

Would you "settle" for league MVP's from the State? CT had a hell of run(6) in the 90's.

Bagwell (NL MVP 1993)
Vaughn (AL MVP 1994)
Young (NFL MVP 1992, 94)
Leetch (NHL (Norris Trophy 1992, 97)

Next time someone says something about CT athletes;)

....You just made your first step out of the dark side and into the light. Keep going. "Go into the light...Go into the light"
No, turn around quickly: intentional misquote: that's no star, its a Death-star"

Love the picture... everyone writing away and Byron sitting in front row looking like "I'm done - I'm ready"!

Rookie class arrives for MiniCamp

Is about to get paid, these are just projections, but $1.5 mill and $4.5 signing bonus is sweet, congrats to Byron.

There's a more interesting after-tax earnings situation later in the first round, which is in the chart below.

ARIK ARMSTEAD VS. BYRON JONES

PICK/NAME CLUB RESIDENCE STATE INCOME TAX 2015 CAP NUMBER SIGNING BONUS 4-YEAR TOTAL AFTER TAXES
17. Arik Armstead 49ers CA 13.3% $1,789,569 $5,418,276 $9,842,630 $5,068,000

27. Byron Jones Cowboys TX None $1,563,989 $4,515,956 $8,601,940 $5,010,000

Byron Jones will sign a contract with the Cowboys as the 27th pick that's almost $1.25 million less than Arik Armstead will receive from the San Francisco 49ers as the 17th pick. Their net wages over their four-year contracts will be essentially the same despite the 10-pick difference, thanks to taxes.

Ok, we have great athletes in the state, but I did say UConn...Except for Bagwell and Leech (UHart and Avon Old Farms), Vaughn played at Seton Hall and Young played at his grandfather's university. I doubt they were first round draft picks.
