From his response I believe that was the way he thought her name was spelled. He mentioned spellcheck in a later post.

Geno has the exact same standard for all his players with regards to effort. CW is not a good example to use if you are talking defense technique as @JordyG and other have pointed out CW gets beat plenty on backdoor cuts and blowbys. You also won't find many people perpetrating CW to be a defensive "stopper" as they are doing for Nika. I have refereed to Nika as slow footed on defense because she drags her feet instead of sliding-that is part of the lack of technique I'm talking about. More technique notes: You mention the offense foul Nika drew which was a Mayberry worthy flop IMO. What you fail to point out was she got beat ( from the inside position) for the offensive rebound just prior to that play. Nika has not progress defensively in her time on the court.
Lack of effort, no. But in rewatching the game there wasn't a single occasion where Nika wasn't beaten off the dribble going to her left. On one occasion she was beaten just as badly as on the play where Geno reprimanded her. On that play however her mark saw Paige just outside the lane and pulled up to pass the ball. Not to come down too hard on Nika, but if you have a reputation as a defensive stopper expect criticism when you're not. Now I still believe her poor footwork on the perimeter is mostly due to her stress fracture, but my being wrong has become a cottage industry.
Exactly. People on the board that, when she was signed, immediately labeled her a great defender were mistakenly believing that playing for a club team in Croatia was like playing against WNBA competition.
She is and she is from a different background. The technique of sliding her feet to stay in front of the person she is guarding needs to get better In Europe she did a lot of swiping as the offensive player went by her and created steals. She will be taught and pick up quickly this technique. Geno will make sure of it. Paige is improving already like those before them with good coaching.

No. Before the season Geno consistently referred to Nika's defensive skills. Even during one practice he told Paige "Do you know why Nika wears number 10 and you number 5? Because she's twice the defensive player you are". What seems also not to be made up is your unwillingness to remember or listen to reports coming out of early practices.
GA could easily change the substitution pattern like put EW at guard or not play NM at all like he did when she was hurt. We have enough good ball handlers (including AM), that I think we could probably squeak by the likes of Butler and Providence with NM as a cheerleader for the entire game. Not to be a smartass, but I'm sure nobody is going to say 'Thank goodness we had NM or we would have been doomed against Butler and Providence'.
Yes I remember that too now that you mention it. I would guess he was using a healthy amount of hyperbole though.

Not to be an equal smartass but the answer remains the same: Nika is the ONLY scholarship guard available to come off the bench. I wouldn't say AM is a guard. She is a wing or 4. She is more a tweener really, but you don't want her covering too many guards for long stretches. She has a really good handle but she is not a guard in my view. Also, IIRC, they came in at the same time.
