Build the best possible team with UConn players since our last title

PG: RJ Cole
SG: Jalen Adams
SF: James Bouknight
PF: Shonn Miller
C: Adama Sanogo

Equal parts best lineup and Cole/Adams are the two guys I most want to see what they'd do surrounded with other playmakers like this. You could also slide Vital and Hamilton in a couple different ways, but this is the two lead guards and a scoring wing combination that has been very very good to UConn.
This is the best starting five of the bunch. Three guards and it can be looked at as 1 PG, 2 Combos or 2 PGs + 1 combo.

Adams
Cole
Bouknight
Miller
Sanogo

Bench

Purvis
Hamilton
Jackson
Vital
Polley
Gibbs
Martin
Carlton
Gilbert

The OP did say team right.
I’ll add Whaley.

The talent we surrounded Jalen Adams with while at UConn is criminal. I’d love to see him run with Bouk and CV. Or this past years team. He may be the biggest waste of Talent in UConn history. I still believe the kid had the goods with the right coaching.

Add him to this past years team and we may still be playing. He got to the rim with ease. And was a better shooter than given credit for.
Boat( since last title right?)
Adams
Bouk
Hamilton
Sanogo

Vital
Rj
shonn
Martin
Carlton
Purvis
Facey
Sterling

Look at who’s Not being mentioned…..Larrier. Gilbert. Sid.

Where is Boatright??

Boatright
Adams
Bouknight
Tyrese
Sanogo

Bench: Vital, Hamilton, Miller and Whaley

Here’s an even more interesting question for some on this board. Who’s the coach? Ollie or Hurley? Lmaoo

Jalen Adams
James Bouknight
Daniel Hamilton
Freshman Year Akok
DPOY Whaley

Adam’s and Bouknight would be our most talented backcourt ever. Plenty of shooting, athleticism, guys who can pass, and some bugs who can protect the paint. Whaley being the ultimate glue guy. CV off the bench.

Jalen did always seem to have that clutch winners mentality during his time here. He always seemed to be able to get that basket when we needed at the end of games. Something we lacked heavily this year. That shot against Cinncy in the AAC Tournament is still nuts. The balls to call your shot as a freshman with very talented upperclassmen on the team is crazy.

Bringing this back. Forgot how it looked like to have guys who knew how to drive and finish in traffic.

Adams, Bouknight, Hamilton, and Sanogo are non-negiotiable. Cole, Vital, Martin, Miller, Whaley, and Larrier come to mind for the final spot. If you could have guaranteed me Larrier never got hurt I think I'd be inclined to pick him.

4 guards and a short center? No. That team gets crushed. Can't defend and rebounding would be meh at best.
Couldn’t agree more with your post. I would say……

Josh Carlton
James Bouknight
Jalen Adams
Tyrese Martin
Andre Jackson

6th man Sanogo and/or Hamilton

PG: Jalen Adams
SG: James Bouknight
SF: Daniel Hamilton
PF: Shonn Miller
C: Adama Sanogo

6th Man: Christian Vital

Others on my bench: RJ Cole, Alterique Gilbert, Jordan Hawkins, Tyrese Martin, Vance Jackson, Isaiah Whaley, Steven Enoch

The fact there's not a great selection of point guard choices speaks volumes about our recent history.

Many times previously in our history, there would've been no obvious point guard choice because of too many options.

PG is one of the strongest positions with Adams, Cole and Gibbs. PF is awful. SF is decent but not as good as years past.

Not that I'd pick him for this hypothetical team, but where would Alex Oriakhi fit in the list of potential 5s.

Four guards and a short center has been working well for St. Peter's!
