That's my quick take. From DC here to an SEC co-DC position sounds like a promotion to me. That was a Mora strong point, he developed players and coaches. And a week after the news, I think Candle has got this. That's why he took the job.We lost Lashlee to SMU and Brock to Mississippi State. That is good publicity for our program - we graduate assistants to Power 4 jobs.
SMU was still in the American when Lashlee left. Brock originally came from Mississippi State, don't think you can call it a graduation. We lost Lashlee to SMU and Brock to Mississippi State. That is good publicity for our program - we graduate assistants to Power 4 jobs.
3-3-5 is fine, you need good DL. With the way offenses are spread out I like playing with an extra safety instead of a LB or DL. The closer you get to the quarterback the harder it is to find players.Do we want Brock to coach the Fenway Bowl? I would think Yes, for continuity. Do we want the 3-3-5, that’s probably a no for most yarders.
Doesn't matter where they were; what matters is where they are NOW.SMU was still in the American when Lashlee left. Brock originally came from Mississippi State, don't think you can call it a graduation.
Kashif seems like a good pick on the offensive side. He's a UConn, not a Mora guy.
We have the players and the correct scheme under Coach Brock and he did a great job. He just leaned too hard on a few and did not rotate enough guys the last couple of years to build loyalty, therefore player developed suffered.I thought he was a great coach…just didn’t have the personnel this year to run his D. Night and day difference between last season and this year!
Wow that’s some spin and then some.We have the players and the correct scheme under Coach Brock and he did a great job. He just leaned too hard on a few and did not rotate enough guys the last couple of years to build loyalty, therefore player developed suffered.
So did Delaware. That’s how they knew how to carve it up. I’m sure Coach Candle’s input would be appreciated if he has insights to help us win.Got news for you. Toledo played a 3 3 5
Lots of teams try to force no subs for defense.![]()

We are going to be better then before on defense under Coach Candle. If we rotate our defensive players more frequently, our results will be outstanding. Not rotating fresh DB's was our biggest weakness the past couple of years. Every time we got into a 2 minute situation, our guys were gassed, fresh legs is the easiest adjustment ever to stop the nonsense.

You are not giving Sammis enough credit for what he has done as OC at UConn. Look at UConn scoring before and after Sammis:Sammis is a good one. Someone will pick him up at the very least big school OL.
What's even more remarkable is when you compare the offensive talent in 2023 and 2024, the only real difference was increase in the number of WRs. So, Sammis turned around the offense through coaching and development. The difference between Sammis and Charlton was night and day for sure.
This is not 2008. Where are they now? He will bring in people he knows through his contacts.Bring back Todd Orlando and Hank Hughes on the defense. We haven't been close to that standard since they left the program. USF was the worst defense in the country when Todd inherited it and they have gotten better each year. Turned a safety into a first team all conference LB this season. Hank has had 4 seasons top 27 in total D at Penn out of 7 years. They weren’t top 50 once the 7 years before he arrived. He’s also coached P5 transfers / NFL players just about every year that he’s been at Penn. Could maybe get him to bring Carter Janki and Jon Lista from Penn, both first team all Ivy grad transfers. Hanks time matches up to 17 of UConns 21 defensive players drafted all time and they had the best defenses in school history. Led the Big East in Total Defense 4/9 seasons. This is a no brainer. Hank and Todd were in the leadership roles on the defense the entire RE 1.0 tenure. They’re responsible for approving and bringing in any defensive player that we had back in the day. I miss the old UConn defenses and stuffing the run. If we were a fraction of our past on defense then we would have ran the table this season
