cam's just a predator level exploiter of space on the court. results wise it'll be really hard to top what cam did. but braylon brings a different set of attributes, particularly doing some on ball stuff attacking close outs etc. they'll find a way to maximize what he can bring to the offense.

Probably not percentage wise. His efficiency was off the charts
Part of being a great shooter is also being athletic enough to get your shot off over defenders and in tight spaces. Athletically, I think Mullins compares favorably to some of the best to do it here at similar ages.

Braylon Mullins bets on himself, picks UConn over IU basketball. He explains his decision.

“Coach Hurley was the head coach I heard from the most,” Mullins said. “And honestly, that’s who you are playing for so hearing from him was definitely a big part of it.”

Though the goal is to play in the NBA, Mullins said there was never any “one-and-done” talk with Hurley during the recruiting process. There were no guarantees when he arrived at UConn, either, other than to work for opportunities to play.

“I’m willing to accept that challenge,” Mullins said. “

This might be a bit far, but I’m not sure it is. I think this kid might end up being the best shooter to wear a UConn jersey since Ray Alllen.
I’m curious who are ur top5 shooters in uconn history ?

Got this link from an IU board. Really good insights about the commitment. There's none of that 'Hurley promised him 1 and done' nonsense IU fans were talking about. Hurley prioritized Mullins more than any other head coach, and that paid off.

Braylon is one of the best recruits UConn has ever gotten. Unreal shooter off the dribble, catch, movement with an incredibly quick trigger and inside the gym range.

We're in dynasty mode.
Sounds like a better shooting Castle?

Great article. My favorite part is that Hurley just flat out out-worked EVERYONE else.

If you are an opposing coach, you must absolutely cringe when Hurley walks in a gym to look at a kid you’re recruiting.

Back to back national champ.
2024 Naismith COTY.
UK backed up a brinks truck to get him.
Lakers offered multi-year contract.
He’s the modern face of college MBB.

And the WORST part is… all that stuff isn’t even what’s going to put the nail in your coffin. The guy is STILL gonna work harder than you to get his man.

This sounds like the DH we all know. I was so confused during the recruiting process when BM was quoted as saying that DH brought up being a 1 and done multiple times.

I just watched some highlights from last year and it looks like he grew a lot. He may grow more over the next year and get to 6'6" or 6'7". He gets his shot off so quickly.

the vibe from indiana board/boosters is a group that's doubling down on refusing to acknowledging difficult reality. gotta recognize the problems before fixing them. have heard a lot of confident stuff from their various 'insiders' and it just sounded like false bravado

Boom!
Hurley is the man and the kid is saying exactly what I want to hear in terms of wanting to be coached hard. Boom. Some kids get it. I want those kids, and Hurley gets them. We are just reloading now. This is just the beginning. He turned down Lakers job. He’s thinking about being better than Coach K now. We are the team to beat every year now.

Knowing IU was an hour down the road, that was the biggest part (in IU’s favor),” Mullins said. “I liked everything at UConn better than at IU. And I felt like I just wanted a fresh start and to get away from home a little bit. Just live life on my own a little bit. That’s one of the reasons why I went to UConn instead of IU.”

He’s a great shooter, a push shot with very little jump to it but he gets it off very quickly. Excited to have him.

@HooperScooper it looks like you won't need to police the spelling of Braylon. He says in the video on the Indy Star article that noone calls him Braylon. It is B-Mul or just B. Most boneyarders have to be able to spell 'B'.

I went back to the early July thread about the recruits each of us coveted. At the time Thomas was considered in hand and on everybody's projection and wish list. BMul was coveted by many of us, but almost nobody thought he would leave Indiana/midwest in the end. Great job in the end by the staff and clearly Hurley in particular. He prioritized this kid and 'B' felt it. Once again the staff knocked the cover off the ball when BMul visited. I am thrilled and trying to get used to not writing Braylon or Mullins, which is harder than you would think.

Danny is truly a "young" 51. Whatever he's doing to stay in shape and high energy, it's working and it's well received by parents/recruits. Maybe it's the routine Storrs offers him, the consistency that leaving for a cross country NBA job wouldn't. My gut tells me he's here to stay. Enjoy the ride & the golden era, it really is a special experience for a fan.

Better Athlete? Not sure about that. Better Ball handler sure but that doesn't take a lot.

At this stage, he's more physically developed and bouncier, plus being a better finisher. Not a knock on Hawkins, more of a compliment to Mullins. This dude is athletic AND a quick trigger.
