Bradley to Transfer

He won't get a sixth year unless there's a medical reason for his first redshirt. It's possible one exists - if he was hurt that year, none of us would have necessarily noticed.

He'd get a sixth year of eligibility, so he'd have four years of eligibility, and then have three years of eligibility if he transfers.

He has seen 3 teammates leave school in the last three weeks. Oriakhi outright said that the ban played a big role in his decision, and reports said that the ban played a role in Drummond's decision as well. It's not exactly preposterous to think that could affect him, instability can create a domino effect in college basketball.

"And, for what it's worth, he was practicing full out with the team before New Year's. The fact that he never made it on the floor all year was not, from what was reported, for health reasons."

That's just not true. http://courantblogs.com/uconn-men/mailbag-221-roles-for-michael-bradley-enosch-wolf/

Michael Bradley fractured his ankle in October and had surgery. In January, Jim Calhoun said he was still limping some and may actually need a full year to fully recover. It is possible that Bradley, though he red-shirted last season, could get a medical redshirt and another year of eligibility.

Michael Bradley, who had surgery to repair a fractured ankle in October, has been practicing, but is still limping, Calhoun said. It may take a year for the injury to fully heal, so he may not play in a game this season.

Calhoun said Bradley (who fractured his ankle back in the fall) is still noticeably limping in practice.

“There’s a chance that ankle won’t be better for a year," Calhoun said. "He really had extensive surgery, he was out an incredibly long time, so there’s a chance he may not get into a game this year.”

That is all from January and February.

I did not see the reports from January and February. Thanks

At this point, when I see a kid is transferring or leaving, my only thought is, "Is he in good academic standing?"

Are there any other options besides a four guard lineup at this point?

This wouldnt be as bad if the Freshmen/transfers coming in next year were big men. At this point we need guys at the 4 and 5 just to take up space and eat minutes.

If Bradley had any real chance of helping the club, he likely wouldn't be leaving. Therefore, while I absolutely wish the young man nothing but the best, this is not a development I will be losing sleep over.

And blaming the NCAA for it is beyond ludicrous. The young man couldn't earn a minute of playing time in two years. Yes, it's the NCAA's doing. Good grief.

Agree. If you are over 6'9 and can walk and chew gum at the same time, you are going to get minutes on UConn next year giving the fouling machines that I expect Olander and Wolf to be. Bradley knows this, so if he is transferring, he probably doesn't expect to play very much.

So our scholarship players right now:

Seniors:
1. RJ Evans (G)

Juniors:
2. Neils Giffey (G/F)
3. Shabazz Napier (G)
4. Tyler Olander (F)
5. Roscoe Smith (F)
6. Enosch Wolf (C)

Sophomores:
7. Ryan Boatright (G)
8. DeAndre Daniels (F)

Freshmen:
9. Omar Calhoun

Empty Scholarships:
10. (Lamb--Free)
11. (Bradley--Free)
12. (Drummond--Free)
13. (Miles)

So is this now our lineup?

PG: Napier
SG: Calhoun
SF: Daniels
PF: Smith
C: Olander

First off bench: Boatright, Evans, Giffey, Wolf

I figured we don't want to start Napier and Boatright due to size issues.
I put Daniels ahead of Giffey arbitrarily (for size reasons, but this is close)
I assume Wolf will get time because, you know, we only have 2 true 4/5s and he's one.

Getting rid of all the deadweights. Bradley was ever going to be good or useful for us at UCONN so his leaving is good for him and his family. He's a good kid who is suited for mid major schools. Now I can see the Wolf man in action next year playing major minutes.

The NCAA has ducking gutted our program. This is disgusting.
Definitely more than the slap on teh wrist that some had represented. My source said it was gonna be bad and it was worst than that.

Please give it a rest Chief00. You lose any shred of credibility you have left with each additional post like this. Please just stop!

It's clear to me that both this transfer and Drummond's going pro are evidence that the rumors that have been floating around are true. Tyler has been an absolute beast in the weight room. His game is growing exponetially. No doubt that's why Noel passed on UConn to go Kentucky and Melo turned pro. EO Smith's finest is going to get national recognition next year. Mark it down.

So in the last month, his game has grown at a significantly greater rate than it did in the previous six months of actual team play. I hope you are right.

Tell your source to shut up already.
