This thread is ok to discuss any matchup regardless of bracket. If you want to start a new thread about a non-UConn team or bracket, please do it on the General board. Let’s keep the non-UConn chatter in one thread

UConn-North Carolina will be about 5:00 on Friday

Thanks for the heads-up! Love the game times for the women Friday [around 5:00] and hopefully Sunday [1:00]
The times for the men's games have been dreadfully late...imo.

I just hope that if the men and women both win on Friday that their games don't overlap on Sunday.

I think UConn should manage the Heels easily, and I don’t think they pose any greater threat than Syracuse. The pace of play disparity alone is more than they’ll be able to handle. And throw in the huge matchup problems and it’s hard to picture any good result do UNC. The one place where they can matchup well, the 5 with Toomey, will not be enough to make a difference.

I know it's the tournament, and anything can happen, but it sure looks like all of the #1 and #2 teams, and #3 TCU, will move on to the next rung on the bracket.

As I posted in the Analysis thread, if you look at Toomey's previous five games or so, do you really think that she matches up with Serah, Sarah and Blanca? Just wondering what you are using as your basis.

It's true that Ciera's numbers have dipped a bit recently, probably because the competition has ratcheted up in the tournament season. But what I see when I look at her is a big who runs well and can intimidate. Her season stats are similar to Serah's and she looks to be a little bit stronger. That's the basis, and my conclusion that it won't be enough is because there's a lot more to Geno's front court lineup than just Serah.

The thing is, it looks like Courtney has lost confidence in Ciera, and without Blanca getting minutes either (injury?), they are mainly playing a small lineup these days. And the problem is that UNC doesn't really have the team speed or the pace of play to make a small ball lineup work, especially against UConn.
