I agree with you that this will change over next couple of years. The infamous House settlement is trying to get rid of the booster collective, replacing it with revenue sharing and legit NIL from corps.
Alums don't really like collective, it's sort of wasted cash rather than say, endowing a scholarship with your name attached.
