Charlie Creme has posted an update to his bracket predictions. Still lots of games to be played but unless I miscounted he has 8 Big East teams at the dance.

If those were the actual brackets, Fresno and Raleigh would be really tough, whereas Kingston and, especally, Des Moines, would be pretty easy for the top seeds.

I don't see them sending Duke to BatonR instead of to Chapel Hill [11 miles away]
And I don't see them sending Tenn to Normam OK when Nashville is in Tenn.

This change means we would have to beat Duke again.

And we would not potentially meet Tenn until the Championship game - and Tenn would have to take Baylor out - and I just don't see that happening. If Tenn stays in the Fresno bracket they have to take out Stanford - and that is a possibility [but I still think that Stanford and the O sisters can beat Tenn] - if they do take out Stanford then they could meet us in the Final Four. That could be quite a match up at the Final Four - UConn vs Tenn and NotreD vs Baylor - with the victors meeting for the championship game.......would be quite a weekend.

a tennessee/maryland matchup would be interesting. as would Notre Dame and Duke as well as UCONN-Kentucky. i think Stanford is the weakest 1 seeds and at this point tennessee should be a 3 seed but i'm not sure i see tennessee getting past Maryland regardless.

Baylor is getting what overall number one seeds get...the easiest path to the Final Four. After having TAMU in our region last year, it would be nice to have a slightly easier path this year. And I guarantee you that the committee (not that this is their braketology) wants to see BG playing in Denver. Just like Maya Moore last year, Griner is a ratings bonanza.

I can't say that UCONN would have a tough time getting through their bracket, either. I can't see how the committee could put Duke in ND's bracket if ND wins the Big East. That would certainly not be a reward. Duke, to me, is the 5th best team in the nation.

I haven't seen enough of Miami to compare them to Tennessee, but Creme must think that Miami is the lowest number two seed to put them in Baylor's bracket.

I actually think Miami's guard play could give Baylor fits, a la St. John's.

Games that sound intriguing:

UConn vs Kentucky
Stanford vs Green Bay
Tennessee vs Maryland
ND vs Delaware
Ohio State vs DePaul - Sammy vs Brittany Hrynko, two balls of fire mano a mano

Interesting he has TN as still a #2 - I think they would rather drop a line and be a top #3 with a better chance of staying east - I guess he really likes their SOS/RPI, but sooner or later they have to win some of those games, not just play them.
I wouldn't mind this bracket - no one we played before and might fear is likely to win through to us. Realistically - with the way this year is playing out, none of the #1s are on paper going to be too challenged. The #2 all have flaws, though of course anyone of them could get hot at the right moment, including TN. I always think back to that 10 loss championship they won. And whoever gets Duke is not going to be happy as they do seem to be the best #2.

I questioned that too, but who do you switch them out with???

Ohio State, Maryland, Georgetown, or TAMU???

I feel like the 2/3 seeds are very similar this year. I still think Maryland is the most dangerous. IF they get rolling they could upset quite a few teams. I know someone is going to talk about their defense or lack of, but offensively when they are clicking they are fun to watch. Same could be said for Duke. If the Blue Devils are hitting shots, they too could be dangerous.

The NCAA is all about match ups and seedings. I personally dont want to see Georgetown in our bracket, but there they are.

Kentucky, which still is getting little respect by some, could be dangerous depending on where they are seeded and placed.
To keep on the current topic (I apologize to my Stanford fans on the BY) but Stanford could fall to many of the 2/3's. Again.....depends on match-ups.

Should be a fun tournament!

Creme has been holding Tenn up for the entire season. I am sure he has RPI SOS etal to justify that as losses have mounted to 6. He may have had them as a#1 at the beginning? The 3 matchups would be interesting. ND and Duke very early in season 2 pt win for ND,but ND imho is the stronger team and legit title contender at this time! Read other thread that was on the top 4 earlier today and seems to have gotten lost.

Duke cannot go to Chapel Hill because UNC is there. Charlie addressed this in either one of his blogs or twitter. The same rule would apply to Vandy and the Lady Vols.

A few questions/comments:

1. Does anyone know where C. Creme's commentary on this bracket is to be found? One of the ESPN comments made reference to a "blurb", but I can't find a link to it.

2. Isn't it odd that Villanova is in the tournament with a 5-5 Big East record while West Virginia is in the "First 4 Out" with a 7-3 record? Could that possibly still happen at the end of the season if Villanova has a higher RPI but WVU does much better in the Big East and in the tournament?

3. Does anyone want to see Georgetown in UConn's bracket for the second straight year, implying that we will probably have to play them three times? That seems like cruel and unusual punishment for both teams. Wouldn't Maryland be a more interesting 3-seed in UConn's bracket?

4. And I would still like to see Delaware in UConn's bracket as a 4 or 5-seed.

5. At this point, I hope the selection committee has the good taste to resist the temptation for a UConn-Tennessee meeting before the Final Four. I don't see how that could have a good outcome for WCBB.

6. Doesn't this all lead to UConn - Notre Dame, Round IV, for the second consecutive year in the national semi-final game?

IMO, there is no similarity between the current LV's and that 1997 team, which featured someone that nobody could guard (Holdsclaw) and a very good PG who was returning from injury after missing most of that season (Kelly Jolly).

And they also faced in the regional finals a UConn team that was reeling from the first major injury the program had had to deal with when Shea went down right before the tourney. Not saying it wasn't an impressive run by the LVs that year, but a lot of things went right for them at the end to make it possible.

Right, and the LV's luck continued when ODU beat Stanford, who was the best team remaining, and would have been a much tougher opponent in the final than an overconfident ODU team was.

Actually, UConn lost Shea in the tourney, in the first round game at Gampel, against Lehigh, I believe. I think Shea had scored around 15 against Tennessee in the regular season UConn win. Losing Shea was huge, and I think Geno later reflected that he did not deal with that loss well.

i would frankly want TN as a 3 seed so long as it keeps the lady vols out of the baylor region. 2 or 3 doesn't matter

Well Duke can go to Chapel Hill, if UNC doesnt make the tourney. They are 17-5 currently.... with a 6 loss being official in about an hour. They go to Miami on Wednesday. Then GT at home... at FSU, home vs NC State, at Maryland, and then home vs Duke. They could easily be 18-12 heading into the ACC tourney.

So, in which bracket would you rather have the committee place RU?
