Bowl Rumors

No kidding. I thought the same when I read Bob Joyce's post.
At least Bob said Saturday @ the earliest to accommodate for the inevitable “leaks”… Sunday afternoon seems to be a stretch.

Sounds like the timing is coming from the school:

Buffalo goes ahead of Akron with 1:15 to play 23-22. If they prevail, record will be 6-6.

Will UConn play Buffalo instead of Rice in bowl game? Rice was recently listed as possible opponent for the Huskies.

Wait, we get a choice?
To an extent… the bowls with open spots will have certain teams they prefer. If UConn is among the preferred teams for multiple bowls they would have the option of which invitation to accept.

That said with ESPN owning and operating many of the lower end bowls that will have the open slots they can limit the options for a school by only inviting them to one place.

It’s different than when you’re in a conference. The contractual ties of the conference binds you to a particular bowl. (Kind of like being drafted vs being an undrafted free agent)

Army’s waiver was officially denied:

The oversight committee also denied a waiver to Army, which was hoping to count two wins vs. FSC opponents toward bowl eligibility. Earlier in the season, the committee denied a similar waiver request by Marshall and Appalachian State.
