Who cares about that traitor Boeheim? He is dead to me.

Both should easily pass Rupp (876) and Dean Smith (879) this season (doomed). Passing Knight (902) next season is not certain, given an expected drop off in talent next season - it may pivot on how far past smith they go this season. (doomed)

Jim C = 855
Jim B = 856

Eh, it's not like he wanted this to happen. The Syracuse administration did this, and he was shocked. I'm not holding against Syracuse or Pitt what I would have wanted UConn to do. BC and Miami, on the other hand...

If he stays, JC should pass Knight. Gotta think they can avg 23.5 wins over the next 2 seasons.

Yes, it's very very likely given that they will do very well this season - which seems like it will be the case. (doomed)

Only 2 times since 1993-1994 have they not won at least 47 games over 2 seasons: 2006-2008 and 1999-2001.

They won less than 47 games over 2 seasons 4 times before the 1994-1995 season (in the Calhoun era).

doomed.

And actually the cut off should be 48 games since 47 only puts JC in a tie with knight. JC has won less than 48 games over 2 years 4 times since 93-94. 2 times in the past 5 seasons.

I still like Boeheim, I don't think he had a hand in it, he loved the BE and he was more or less forced to say what he said about the changes.

He was on PTI right after the jump blowing kisses to his new league. I doubt he was forced to go on that victory tour. I'm sure it was his choice.

They had him, two nights later, at a speech and his whole point was that he was blindsided by the whole thing. He then made fun of Greensboro.

If you think he's an out and out liar, fine. I don't. The guy is BE through and through.

I'm assuming JC doesn't get credit for any Ws during the three-game suspension, right?

That means, assuming we win all three (doomed, i know), the magic number is more like 51 for the team overall for the next two years.

28 this year
23 next year

Seems do-able, but the lost suspension wins might be just enough buffer for JB to stay ahead of JC, fwiw.

hadn't thought about that. We have to beat them all three times we face them this year.

and we get to keep hearing the annoying statistic each time we play cuse that "this is the record for most combined wins by opposing coaches"...

don't get me wrong I love being reminded that JC and JB kick , but they bring it up every single time...

Keep in mind how Mike Tranghese said he does not expect Calhoun and Boeheim to stick around to coach in the ACC. With the league holding teams to the 27 month exit policy, that prediction does not seem that far off

Good catch. Taking all our posts into consideration, it's going to be tight. "duck it, might as well just win the whole thing" this year.

Yeah, good catch! I'll have to consult my spreadsheet again...

Maybe Knight's record is like the speed of light - you can approach it but never reach it. Let's see what happens to koach krapshovelski to prevent win 902 from occurring.

slight correction - they don't count but they also don't have to win the games when calhoun is out to increase his win total so they don't increase the tally to 51. It, practically-speaking, does increase the tally though because they will likely win those first 3. (doomed)

did u read the thread? just idle chatter about whether JC will pass bob knight if he stays for another season after this one. (doomed)

NaughtybyNapier accurately brought up the point that JC will not get credit for the 3 first BE games. I/we kind of jumped to the conclusion that they would therefore need 3 more wins than I/we previously thought in order to bring JC past BK. My latest post was to clarify that we don't have to win those additional 3 games. So JC still has to get 48 wins - but indeed he will have 3 fewer opportunities to get those 48 wins.

The most important statistic between JC and JB is 3 National Championships to 1. God I hate Syracuse.
