Neither are 1st round picks this year. If they are smart they stay another year and try to move into the 1st round.

where are they going to go NBA? There's no way that they get drafted. If they were both smart they would stay at uconn.

Agree, they might be good college guards but are far from NBA material. Not knocking them just my opinion. Bazz can dominate minutes but not mentally tough enough. Haven't seem point guard skills from Boat that a NBA team would be looking for. As many spectacular plays he makes he makes mistake.

I think bazz could be a great pro but he is such a streaky shooter. He will open with 10 points and you wont see him score again. I also think the boat could be great too.

Checked one of the NBA draft sites last week--- no Shabazz in 2 rounds.

I am hoping the post-season evaluation from KO, along with some input from Jim Calhoun, will bear more weight than the advice from families and friends when it comes to their future.

The usual rule is guaranteed contract, you got to go. However, if you aren't confident you're guaranteed a first round slot next year some folks think you might as well bounce this year and start making cash. Dangerous strategy as we've seen but sometimes it works. See Ramon Sessions who broke my heart and left Nevada prematurely

Neither is anything close to what Walker was when he left, and both are smaller than Kemba. While Walker went 9th, I just don't see how these two are better than late first round, or 2nd round. I guess they will do what's best for them, but I hope they stay for the long haul.

Sessions has had a solid NBA career, so can't blame him on that decision. In a fairy tale world the program would be of greater importance to the kids...but it is not and hence the success of the squid's recruiting strategy

The last comment about Boatright having close connections to AAU guys is what makes me think Boatright could enter the draft before he should. Napier will listen to Ollie and Calhoun. Boatright I'm not so sure about.

Unfortunately, you're always gonna have a Thabeet or Lamb, who's too big for what they're worth. Hopefully both of these guys are smart enough not to go down that road though.

This is a complete joke. Watching Russ Smith torch us solidified my view that Boatright will never be an NBA player. You need to be good at something to make it in the NBA. Boatright is not a good passer, turns it over against pressure, can't guard anyone even if they are slow, doesnt blow by people consistently like he should (russ smith vs uconn), can't get a shot up over a good perimeter or interior defender and isn't a great finisher even when he gets past his man. The worst part is that he yells at teammates after he makes a mistake and has weak body language. All those things he can work on over next 2 years and take to Europe but NBA keeps getting bigger and he ain't growing.
Bazz I could see being a jannero type backup pg but that's also a long shot.

I think UConn against bigger teams should rotate bazz and boat to get them rest, especially Bazz. When teams make second half runs you can see the fatigue and it looks like they take plays off. Moving giffey or Daniels to the 3 allows you to bring on another rebounder.

Stay in school

I love how whenever this post gets made(seems to be bout every week now) you guys use this as an opportunity to all over Bazz and Boat, as if a decision has already been made on their part. The only time this has even been brought up by either of them is when Boat talked about possibly going pro last season. At least wait until their feet are out the door to dump on them if you're going to go the route.

I'm not necessarily saying they won't get drafted high, i'm saying that they definitely won't have a decent NBA career.
...and it has already been decided that Lamb's career is over? , Thabeet will never be worth the 2nd pick in the draft but he's showing signs of at least being a decent backup, and it made absolutely no sense for him to come back.

I'm just saying that maybe he could have an even better NBA season next year if he had stayed here for just one more season.

Why do you want him to stay in school? Clearly, you think he sucks. Wouldn't you be happier to let him go?

Hindsight says that's true. But when you go in the lottery (even late lottery), you don't expect to land on an NBA finalist who basically puts you on mothballs to let you develop. You expect to be in the rotation, at minimum. The trade was good in that it put him with a good franchise, but bad since it is one which doesn't need him now. If he develops and he wins rings in a couple years with Durant-Westbrook-Ibaka, all's good - but it's up to him.

He's basically in the same position Avery Bradley was when he landed with the Celtics. Sucks temporarily, but eventually the chance will open up as the people in front of you are weeded out.

I completely agree, I was almost actually upset when I heard about the trade. On one hand, I feel bad that he most likely will not get substantial playing time for a few years, but on the other hand, he's on a great team with a great coach and great mentors. Jeremy Lamb with Westbrook teaching him how to penetrate and Durant teaching him how to shoot? That's dangerous in a few years.
