Boom! It hit my part of the world. Orlando Florida at 7 am, folks. It’s up to 34 now, with a breeze.

It was a full 30 degrees cooler at bed time at my chez in suburban Maryland than it was on the Coast of Maine where a lot of my family is.

I pointed out on the general board yesterday that in an ironic twist, the (Iowa State) Cyclones’ game was canceled due to the (bomb) cyclone.

Right now here in northern NC, the temp is 14° after being in single digits through the night. The wind chill is -5°. Luckily the high wind is forecasted to stop any time now.
We were worried about our farm critters all night (except for our two LGDs, all of the other critters would be considered elderly) but this morning, all air fine. And it was so very cold that even our heated water buckets had a layer of ice on them due to the winds.

I hope everyone stays safe this weekend, thankfully the low will only be 39 degrees and the high will be 67 degrees here in Vegas. Happy Holidays to everyone out there in the Boneyard wherever you and your loved ones may be.

Bomb Cyclone seems like a drink name.

I’m going with 4 ounce vanilla vodka, 1.5 ounce peppermint schnapps over shaved ice in a bring it up sweet cream pour over a quarter ounce of blue curaçao for color and serve with a sprig of peppermint.

Meh, I like mine better, at least the visual. Taste should be good too, though I’m not 100% on the curaçao.

6 degrees in SE CT this AM. I spent the morning picking up shingles on the lawn. High winds ripped off a half dozen off my 2 y/o roof. You can guess how successful I have been trying to get a roofer out this weekend.

Still hammering us in Indiana. It was -11 on the gauge with a wind chill earlier of -38.

Boy, it rips right through you if outside even for a short time.

Within 5 hours here in NYC the temp fell almost 40 degrees. I went to the dentist at 50 degrees, got home and it was in the 20's. At bedtime it was well in the teens.

After two of these you'll be calling the inventor of curaçao another Einstein.

Last night it was 7 degrees here in South Carolina, the coldest I can remember in the 36 years I've been here. I don't know the wind chill factor, but the wind had to be about 35-40 Mph and on my cell, there was a wind chill advisory.

With the name bomb cyclone, it had to be a pretty stiff drink, needed mint flavor for coolness in taste, shaved ice for coolness in tempature and curaçao for the visual of the blue getting lighter from top to bottom. Vanilla rounds out the flavor. That was my thought process.

My wife says I tend to overthink things. She may be right.:)

(That bartending class I took at UConn is still paying dividends.)

Almost 6 ounces of alcohol. That'll get you there.

Checked my hometown in IL Thursday night, also -11, but I guess the wind wasn't as bad..... only -37.

Again, “bomb cyclone”. I felt obligated.

3.5 oz on the vodka?

Peppermint schnapps got me through college (yes, it was Wisconsin).

This Wind Chill Chart may be appropriate right about now, however one does not need this chart to know it's downright cold...with or without this chart.

About 35 miles north of Indy. Originally from western Mass. - have retained all my sports allegiances to the area, Red Sox, Celtics, etc - and of course my beloved Huskies. I may be heading out to the Lafayette area soon on a field trip to hopefully photograph some owls. :D
