Syracuse hit 17 of 26 in the first half and 15 of 28 in the second to finish with 59.3 percent for the game.
"And if we shot a normal percentage, we would have lost," Boeheim said. "That's what would've happened."

Jim being nice yet he's not far from correct. For those who do not want to take anything positive out of yesterdays game just read that quote a couple of times. Our kids played so hard they were in the game despite the Orange having their best offensive game of the year. Of sourse there will be some who would love to say "well our 3 pt defense sucks" and "our guards go for too many steals" etc etc blah blah blah.......SU has scorers and very capable scorers. They are inconsistent but if on the same day they are making shots you're dead. The big difference also is depth...our guys were in foul trouble and were less apt to help on defense when the game was tight thus allowing Waiters and Jardine a couple easy lanes. The Cuse was in foul trouble but they have the horses on the bench so nothing changes on either end.

Truth be told if Andre doesn't roll his ankle and Scoop doesn't make those bombs we are in a battle to the bitter end despite their shooting prowess for the day. "If"s are something we as fans can build on but hopefully the players can also. I mean that's a talented team up there and our kids were gritty as hell, maybe even plucky (lol). AO in foul trouble, Andre missing 4-5 bunnies in the first half, Roscoe turning everything over, Orange missing nothing yet the kids were only down 2 late in the 2nd half at the Carrier Dome. What's not to like about the way they played? Expectations are very high as a Husky fan I know but for this team, we are not the Cuse this year. They have much higher aspirations and they should. If they can somehow bring this emotion, passion the remainder and go 4-2 and win a game or 2 in the BE tourney we get to see how they match up in the big dance. That's all a Husky fan can ask for now right?

Well, Jeremy Lamb might also break out at this point, just as he did lat season, and then they're the second best team in the BE again.

It would be great if JL goes on an extended tear. But, this teams needs all the pieces to work and beat most teams. There isn't a team in the league that hasn't shown that they are not dangerous on a given night. I really saw a more confident team yesterday than in a long while and that to me is a reason to hope that maybe the team can do a little positive streaking over the rest of the season.

The thing is that most opponents play out of their mind against us. Its the norm not the exception, and its not 100% luck.

Blame these types of performances on our jersey.

It always seems that one player on the opposing team goes off against us. Part of in game strategy is figuring out who is hot and shutting them down. The women make this adjustment all of the time. Our guards either do not have that ability or the defensive strategy is to take chances and let our big men take care of the guards. The only problem is that they aren't great defensively either.

our starters outscored theirs 58-47 i believe but the bench only scored 9 points. 4 of our starters scored in double figures except one. he who will not be named scored 2 points and had 2 rebounds. if he doesnt get into foul trouble he stays in the game and probably does a better job on d against fair than TO did.

UConn's total FG% defense prior to the UL game was one of the top 5 in the nation. 3PT defense on the other hand...

Many of Syracuse's 3 point attempts were 4 to 6 feet beyond the line. You can't guard that, and, in fact, you don't want to guard that in college.

There were some defensive breakdowns. But Syracuse shot far better than normal and took advantage of those lapses, in general, better than just about any other team would. The exception is some of those fast breaks.

That is a misleading stat. If Cuse is playing their bench more and scoring ,starter points go down.It may also indicate that our bench doesn't score enough.

Yeah, it would make more sense to replace X-mas' stats with Fair's. Fair played almost the whole game. Do that and the minutes are much, much closer. The score for starters is then 58-61 Cuse.

true. and if AO scores 10 points its 66-61 uconn. i know its just playing around with numbers but it makes you think if AO were to play at the level he was playing at the end of last season does fair have the game he had? is it enough to change the outcome of the game? possibly.
