I get Boeheim touting his new conference but I really wish he would just shut up and walk out with some class and not trash the conference that made him what he is today. Fact is the ACC has been a total shell of the conference in basketball the last few years that it used to be.

I have a feeling that Pitt and Cuse are going to really enjoy their away games this year.
 
The fact that Cuse can walk in and immediately be the 3rd best team in the league (with Pitt as #4) tells you how weak that conference is. Maybe now the ACC and BE are closer to even.
 
I don't get it. If Cuse was still in the conference, the longest trips were to USF. Uh, Miami is even further away. Otherwise, Louisville? Cincy? Chicago? Milwaukee? From Cuse? Not as far as GT and Clemson. I'm not going to look up the distance but I'm just imagining flights to these big cities (Cincy, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Philly, NYC, DC are hubs) are much easier than flights to Columbia, SC, Tallahasee, etc.

Crazy thing for Boeheim to say.
 
Idk. When the news first broke last September about Syracuse leaving, Boeheim was pretty vocal speaking out against the move in some interviews i saw. His heart will always be with the Big East. Playing the conference tournament in Greensboro instead of MSG is a big let down also. Syracuse obviously had a lot of fans in the garden every year and that wont be the case in Greensboro. Im sure the higher ups at Syracuse told him to pipe down because speaking out against it is hurting the school. Im sure if we were in the same position, Calhoun would be making the same statements right now.
 
I never like the guy anyway. He always reminded me of that tall elf from Rudolf.

This conference is a convoluted clusterf*** and everyone knows it.

You can read some rah-rah horses*** on the realignment board about how we're gonna build this conference up, etc, etc. - we're not.

We're going to endure it until we can leave it.
 
All of a sudden "time zone" is important to a great conference. Did they close Syracuse's airport? Does Syracuse travel by train? He does realize Boise and SDSU aren't in the baskeball conference and Houston and SMU are in the same time zone as Marquette or maybe I assume too much.

Ironically won't Cuse basketball be traveling longer distances now that they are in the ACC? No UCONN, St Johns, Seton Hall, Rutgers, Cincy, Providence, Nova.

Enjoy your conference tournament in North Carolina Mr. Boeheim we'll send you a postcard from nearby NYC.
 
Fishy, we all realize the Big East as currently constructed isn't ideal and what the NCAA is doing to us is utter bullsh@t but constantly complaining about it doesn't help. I remember reading another post from you saying how there is absolutely nothing to play for next year and nobody should care about next year's squad. I hope you weren't serious because that kind of attitude sucks and the players on this team deserve nothing but our respect and cheers for next year.
 
cry all you want but the bottom line is that the big east really wasn't what it used to be. no more home and homes. games against depaul? usf? cincinnati? yeah the big east played 18 games but half were throwaways. honestly the syracuse fanbase doesn't care about big east powerhouses like providence or seton hall. all boeheim is saying is that it isn't like the old big east with home-and-homes where everyone was good, and he has to toe the company line.

Who's crying? Some have decided to point out the idiocy of Boeheim's comments. (ie your basketball team will be doing more long distance traveling in the ACC) It's more mocking then crying.

You are the one who is lost in a message board forum for a former conference mate that you claim you no longer care about. Maybe you should change your name to "Orangedrifter"

Imagine for a second what a joy this forum would be if everyone shared your opinion. It would also make this place one heck of a recruiting tool. Some view crapping in one's own house to be a sign of insanity.

Ultimately the NBE successs will largely be determined by the depth of its fan support, so kudos to those who are offering support.

and please spare us the sarcastic pom pom rebuttal, nobody wants to see you wave the flag of a phoney. Silence, however, is indeed a virtue.
 
Boeheim is simply saying what we all already know. Uconn is a loyal member of the BE until one of the other conferences invites us and then we are gone in a heartbeat. The obvious choice is the ACC but I'm not as sure as I was that this was our best option. If football is driving conference allignment, the ACC may be the runt of the litter.If Clemson and FSU leave ACC football is in a similar position as the BE. Uconn is the ugly girl in the corner waiting for someone to ask us to dance but the popular boys would rather sit it out and wait for someone prettier to become available.

lets wait and see. hopefully in their first year, syracuse sits on the bubble and their quality conferece wins are wake forest and miami. we will see then how much boeheim misses even this clusterfuck version of the big east. cant wait for a .500 seton hall team or better yet, a .500 houston team get in beofre they do!

syracuse and pitt leaving, with us staying is a lose-lose for all of us. the acc is a top heavy conference that in no way measured up to the depth of the big east. and football, well........lets leave it at that.
 
True, the basketball conference isn't what it used to be, but before Cuse helped ruin it by leaving it was still the best basketball conference in the country by far, and the ACC is no better.
 
Why doesnt he just come out and say it? TV contract deals rule collegiate sports and Syracuse went where they could get more money. BS about how the conference has changed.

The team mix was fine.

If Boeheim would have blasted the nutjobs who run the place, I would have been fine with it. I like the BE circa 2010.

Have never liked the management.

Hummm, let's see....Miami, Va Tech, bcu, and now Syracuse, WV, & Pitt all bolt the BE. Hell, TCU bolted before joining. It's no secret that Louisville, Cinn., Rutgers, and UConn are chompin' at the bit for either the B-12, B1G, or ACC when they call.
Yeah, I have to agree with Boeheim. You have Catholic hoops only schools, then you have large public or private schools that realize football is considered the driving force. Neither see eye to eye. This will be the eventual destruction of the current BE. If it's not already destroyed.

Syracuse has always made a fine Tonto...they've just never figured out how to be the Lone Ranger.

They absolutely made the right choice by leaving the Big East, but it won't change their stars. They're trading one set of overlords for another.

He complains the BE used to have home and homes but no more. He thinks Carolina and DOOK are going to visit the Dome every year. HA!!!!!!!!!!Wins games, gets talent, except for Melo's year gets beat by Richmond and Vermont in the Dance. Bye bye Jimmy:eek:
