I agree that this is under talked about in the hellish aftermath. I think Diaco made the wrong call but the OL was so pathetically blown up at the line of scrimmage on such a crucial play. They deserve a ton of scorn too quite frankly. Just pathetic lack of physicality made that stuff way too easy. But they have been like that for Diaco's entire regime so far which is why you can't call that with no TO's.

Navy saw that formation and went all in that it was a run play. Shot every gap.

If we had subbed quick and run up the line to run that play, it probably would have been a different outcome. But running the ball right at their throat out of a timeout? With none left? Terrible, terrible decision making on his part.

Another thing, this game showed a short quick passing game is better option for us than trying to blow people off the ball. 1st 2 games have shown teams are goimg to sell out to stop our run game. Running into fromts where defenders are playing down hill shooting gaps betting you aint passing is,futile.

We would have all taken positives out of the loss, after an impressive second half comeback, had BD given those players a chance to win. You could have run three PASS plays in 17s. You could have kept the ball in your best player's (Sherriffs) hands with a run/pass option. You have a 6'7 TE. You wasted a timeout to call two plays and the first is a run. Why??? Because you play not to lose. That doesn't win on the field, it doesn't win in recruiting, and it doesn't win in the locker room. Those players deserve a coach who lays it all on the line. He wants them all-in, but he has yet to prove that he's all-in.

Literally the only thing I've heard him say about the Big 12 is "it's ridiculous and no one wants to fly 4 hours to play every game". Seemingly has no end of enthusiasm for the American though.

So you burned the timeout because you are always confused about things that happen fast and situations that involve a plan B. We get it. Now it's either 1st and goal or 2nd down from inside the 1 yard line which you know because you burned our last time out. You have time for maybe 3 plays either way so it doesn't matter AT ALL what down it was going to be. Knowing this you send in play #1 that guarantees you at least 1 more shot probably 2 to score. Right? Right? Wrong! None of this was complicated except for our coach and a few posters on this board who should probably not be making life and death decisions at a crosswalk with the numbers counting down.

This is it in a nutshell. I'm not in the fire bob crowd, but there is clearly room for improvement here, and could be worth 2-3 wins/year.
