It's a bit over the top to compare the NCAA to the Gezpatcho, but the point stands: an organization that is looking out for itself and nobody else. Definitely Orwellian.

After reading that im a little nervous that we might be getting some bad news when this investigation wraps up. Obviously they are looking for another improper benefit and from that article it seems a little more serious then just a plane ticket this time.

Not saying that she did, but if RB's Mom did get any money years ago...how is that any different then Cam Newton's Dad getting 6 figures in money during the Cam Newton recruitment? Hasn't the precedent been set that parents can take as much money as they want as long as the player "isn't aware" that they are doing it? Or does that only apply for SEC football in the NCAA's eyes?

Refusing to discuss the actions of its investigators, [the NCAA] essentially said that Connecticut, not the N.C.A.A., declared Boatright ineligible.

insolent pricks

Please forgive my stupidity, but who exactly do they think is giving her money? Also, what would it benefit the AAU coach by getting RB's mom to a certain school? As an aside, a plane ticket should be allowed for a parent to travel with her under-18 child making one of the most important decisions of his life. I'm thinking of hunting down this ex-boyfriend and hurting him.

I'm so disgusted and angry by this. The NCAA is a bunch of old corrupt bureaucrat's that could care less about the student athletes. They need to be taken to the courts and schools need to get together and break away. They seem to be in the business of selectively picking certain kid's and destroying them, they have absolutely no care for the kid's they are supposed to protect and help better their lives.

Just a hunch and people can make of it what they will, but I'm guessing that the NCAA would never camp out at the Plumlees' and ask about their bank deposits. Or demean Gerry McNamara's mom about how she managed to make enough money to own a car. Or press Greg Paulus' dad as to where he got the money for down payment on their house. Or how Aaron Croft's parents happen to be fortunate enough not to starve to death.

Fishy thanks for pointing out the obvious, it's racist as hell and it needs to be pointed out. Absolutely disgusting that they can harass a working mother that raised four children and go through all her banks records. How the hell is any of this legal? I would think any decent lawyer would have a field day with this.

Cam Newton Investigation...

NCAA: Mr Newton, can you explain this $100K transfer to your
bank account.
Mr Newton: Lotto
NCAA: That's great! Best wishes to Cam and much luck against
Oregon next week.
Mr Newton: If you want Cam to get your message that will cost you $2K.
NCAA: Ha ha ha! You are quite the kidder Mr. Newton... (as he leaves)
Mr Newton: Guess Cam's not getting the message...

=====================================================
Ryan Boatright Investigation...

NCAA: Mrs Boatright, there are some serious consequences from taking
$400 to accompany your son to colleges. We need to look at your
financials. Something doesn't smell right here. Please produce your
bank statements.
Mrs B: Here you go....
NCAA: Aha! What is that $75 deposit!
Mrs B: Friend gave it to me. Bought stuff like groceries...
NCAA: Yeah right your saying Ryans younger brothers eat?! Wait, what's
this $50 deposit 2 weeks later!
Mrs B: I asked money from relatives....
NCAA: Oh spare me the sob story.....MOTHER$#%$ER!!!...$125 for
October!...what are you...Boatright Savings and Loan?!!!

Plus none of those guys play(ed) for Calhoun.

Can't they stumble into some real corruption in Chicago; almost anywhere in the city?

Gah! Getting really impatient! When will they make a decision?

What I don't get is that Ms. Boatright says she got the money from friends to give her children a good Christmas. The article says that the NCAA doesn't believe her. Ok, so if they don't believe her, but still can't prove otherwise, what happens? Logically, Boatright should be cleared, but we all know we aren't dealing with logical individuals at the NCAA.
