He has my support, KEA meet your match. No expectations by the way but I respect his initiative to fix what's broken.

Boatright, who totaled 18 points, six rebounds and five assists, said he'll become the team's leader -- something it clearly lacks -- as the home stretch approaches.
"I've never given up at any time in my life," Boatright said. "I've been in down situations, pressure situations, low points in my life and I've never given up.
"If I have to take that role, then I'm going to do it," he continued. "Something has to happen."

He's a tough SOB, a real fighter with a chip on his shoulder. He has a lot of Kemba in him but he's only a freshman and he needs some help.

Uconn is in good hands for a few years with this young man!

He already looks like the best player on the team.

Well, Ryan, AO and Scoe are ready to fight with you. Those are the only 3 guaranteed starters next game as far as I'm concerned.

Absolutely and they should play 35 minutes every game. If Blaney doesnt start with lineup of Boat, Lamb, Scoe, Alex and Drummond he needs to be fired at half time. I would rather the team play without a coach then with an abysmal Blaney calling the shots.

Our problem has been scoring, and you're going to start 3 guys who have been dreadful with the ball in their hands, including Roscoe on the perimeter?

Drummond needs to stop being coddled. He needs to come off the bench. I know our coaching staff feels absurdly indebted to him giving up prep school and the NBA to come here as a walk-on, but his play doesn't justify the PT.

Boatright is the guy that makes everyone play better when he is on the floor. He is the only player who creates both for himself and his teamates. He made a number of plays last night and the game began to get out of control when guys could not finish at the rim when he set them up and when others starting handling the ball, which led to bad passes and turnovers. This team is trying to find its star and others have had more than enough opportunity to play that role and have failed. That is not to say they are not good players or that they are not important to this teams' success, but they need to understand they have limitations and that they need to defer and play within themselves. I think that is why a number of people on this board support Giffey. He is someone who trys to play solid and whithin himself. Lamb played that way last year and has not been able to carry the burdon of being "the man" this year. Ryan is the only player on this team that I belive can handle that role today. That may change in the future, but as of today the players need to recongize it in order to have success down the stretch of this season.

Calhoun decides who starts, not Blaney.

Teenspro do you watch basketball? Do you know our personnel and who are best options are? Scoe and Alex need to play all the time as they are battlers and play hard. Besides Boatright, Scoe and Alex were the best UCONN players on the floor last night. Olander, Napier, and Daniels are all one in the same limited players who are unable to contribute anything more than turnovers for us and be liabilities defensively.Your delusional if you think a lineup of olander, daniels, and napier is a better product on the court than a Roscoe, Alex, and Boat trio.

Unleash the Boat, unleash the Scoe, unleash Alex.

AO at the 5 and Roscoe at the 4. Bring Drummond off the bench, don't throw him into the fire. He isn't ready. Neils as a shooter at the 2/3.

It sounds great and all, but I'm not sold. Ryan's played hard, but he hasn't made anyone better.

Until someone finds a way to get Lamb to play like Lamb, you can jiggle the lineups 27 different ways and we're still not going to win.

We play Syracuse, Saturday....

I still believe that TO at the high post is the difference between winning and losing that game....

This has been a huge part of the problem. Lamb has been really bad. He frequently got in the position where he should have shot the ball, but deferred, or passed.

Lamb is still playing like a #2 option when the team needs him to play like a #1. He's got all the talent; it's just a mentality issue. That won't fix everything, but when some things are going well (first half last night until last couple minutes), it will help the team excel.

Shabazz's play is also part of the problem, and I think is unintentionally exacerbating Lamb's problem. In the beginning of the year (when he was healthy?), he could get into the lane and his shot was falling. Even though Lamb scored more points, Shabazz took, and made, many of the big shots to end or start rallies. He, in effect, acted, like a #1. He hasn't done that in a while. The fact that he's still trying to act like a #1--perhaps because no one else will--is making him look bad. He also has that playground mentality that Marcus Williams had in the beginning of his sophomore year, only without the court vision or touch.

I think the only one, who can get Lamb to play like last year, is Lamb. He looks defeated out there now and maybe he needs to come off the bench for a couple of games. What is happening this year is that he is drawing the opposition's top defender whereas last year Kemba got that honor.

Here's an intriguing question. Suppose we still had Kemba but it was the sophomore Kemba and not the junior Kemba. Would we be any better off?

Boatright played OK in the first half but the second wasn't great for anyone on UConn.

If he wants to lead, he has to have others that are willing to follow. I don't know if Boatright is capable.

Napier tried to lead and ended up just directing players and pointing out their mistakes (which didn't help). You could actually see him pushing players around on defense.

I don't know about anyone else, but I heard enough of the leadership talk from this team. How about some execute your.assignment talk or some shoot only when your open talk or at the very least stay with your man on defense talk?

Of course we would. Sophomore kemba had still been through a final four and was still averaging, what.. 15 a game? Kemba walker was a special presence. The fact is we may never see someone with such presence and leadership that he brought to the table. We have possible leaders on this team such as AO, boat, and roscoe that need to work together to rally this team together and create the same effect kemba had last year. No one player can do it alone though. The boat shows shades of kemba, no doubt. But theres no way he can lead this team alone.

Not to mention sophomore kemba had AJ price to learn from his freshman year. AJ had tremendous leadership that was honesty comparable to kembas. Who does boat have...bazz?

That's a good question.

We're probably not a lot better, but we'd feel better about it.

A lot of the problems this team has is how it feels about itself. Kemba's brand of self-confidence was on the infectious side - perhaps they win the Cincy and ND games and the season has a different feel right now.
