For every point Boat scores, he gives up two on the other end. He is getting worse as the season go's on.

I think a lot of Boat's defensive issues this year is he seems to be pressing a lot to try and force more turnovers due to some of our other team defense/offense issues. I think that has caused his overall defense to slip some. He not to be more selective in his risk taking and that will go a long ways.

The good news is that hopefully his struggles of late will lead him to making the right decision and sticking around for at least 1 more year.

I did notice his defense this game, which I don't understand as quick as he is he doesn't get more steals. It was a lazy/passive type of defense that I hope the coaches dissect when watching the films. He's better on defense than he's playing.

Did I miss the part where he declared? Why are we shredding a guy who stuck with us instead of transferring? I don't get the mindset.

How many of our top players were really, really good their sophomore years? Caron Butler, Khalid....others?. Not Kemba, not a lot of our guys. I'm not ready to say that Boat will end up in that category, but there is a lot to learn. The expectations for Boat have been really high from the very start, probably because we needed him to produce from the moment he stepped on the court. I too think that he should be a better defender by now, but Shabazz was pretty poor last year in terms of keeping his man in front of him. I thought that Bazz hitting all his free throws was a good sign of his focus improving....we shall see. I think that he needs to slow down just a tad like Kemba learned to do going into his Junior year.

Biggest problem I have with Boat is that hang your head look which I just hate in general. If a play doesn't go your way the game doesn't stop. Play harder. Effort will get it back. Still like his game.

And no one knows the extent of his tendinitis and if he is having issues with it how much it's impacting his game. Last year SN played the entire season with a broken foot and people were complaining about his defense only to find out later about his injury.

RB looks a lot slower, imo, in the last six games.

He had a bad game and still had 20 points and 5 rebounds. Our starting center had 2 rebounds in 28 minutes. Bazz was the star, but Boat and Omar certainly helped secure the win. RJ actually had a good game as well.

Boat was much better in the 2nd half tightened up until the 3 he let Karlis get which was not very good defense at considering the situation!! Wish on O he would use the mid range pull up a bit more!!

Our guards have to spend a lot of energy on offense. Boat really spends a lot of his energy trying to create plays for others. He also is our second leading rebounder. So he spends a lot of energy making up for what the bigs lack. Thats what makes staying in front of his man a lot tougher. I honestly don't think Boat or Bazz even deserve to be criticized, they do so much for this team it is almost like they play every position. Our bigs are weak. Until we get more suffiecent big men, defense will be more of a challenge for our guards. Think about this... When we had Thabeet and Adrien, Aj Price didn't even have to be a a great defensive player.

I have to disagree....if your bigs are weak then you lay off your guy and be sure to keep him between you and the basket in order to assure he doesn't get there - instead he spends a lot of time taking chances and cutting off to the sidelines which directs them right to the bigs......he needs to be better on defense! But they both do spend much of their energy creating I agree....no assists for RB was stunning today!

Bazz and Boat do like to gamble. Your correct in that scenario. They should sag off if bigs are weak. But I still think Boat and Bazz would be MUCH more effective defensively if they didn't have to do so much overall.
