It seems clear that parity is growing in WCBB. Some Blue Bloods are fading while new programs are establishing themselves as elite. Here is my take on the Blue Bloods and Current Elite in rank order. Blue Bloods based on 2 or more Natty's...Current Elite based on multiple Regional Championships in last 15 years. Any thoughts?

Blue Bloods: UCONN, TN, STAN, ND, BAYLOR, SOUTHERN CAL, LA TECH
Current Elite: UCONN, STAN, BAYLOR, NOTRE DAME, S. CAROLINA, LOUISVILLE, MISS ST, MARYLAND

First off, props for putting the real SC (Southern Cal) on this list, as well as La Tech. Going waaaaay back. South Carolina has been getting the SC tag lately and it gets confusing. But this is your list and nothing wrong with your list, my friend. Awesome list.

For me, if we are going with the men's college basketball definition of a true "Blue Blood" program, meaning a program that has sustained a high level of success. For the MBB side, we have: UCLA, Duke, Kansas, North Carolina, and Kentucky and UCLA is always the tough one because of the late John Wooden effect but we throw them in anyway. For WBB, I would definitely call UConn, Stanford, and Tennessee Blue Bloods. The rest of the list, minus Mississippi State, they are among that second tier.

Why is it confusing? SC is the state of South Carolina abbreviation. It makes since to put that instead of writing South Carolina out. If you mail a letter and put "SC" on it, I doubt it will end up in Southern California.

I agree if we were talking about mailing a letter. These abbreviations reference teams and not every team name is a state. On the flipside...I would probably call Southern Cal...USC. Another confusing one...Stanford Cardinal and Louisville Cardinals.

This entire thread seems to be more about elite coaches of which there seem to be three in the top tier: Geno, Tara, Pat Summit.
Probably 10-12 in the second tier and it’s a matter of opinion who those are.

I think you should include TX and maybe UNC in the historic category and drop MsSt from the latter as they really had a very short run..

I agree that blue blood is not a good term with some negative connotations.
Agree!

Wonder to what extent these levels of achievement are coach driven?

Does part of the conversation include sustainability over a long time span.

Where will Stanford and Connecticut programs be in 10 years? I'm reflecting on Tennessee post Summit is it possible Cards and Huskies follow that trajectory?

Why is it confusing? Southern California has been called SC for at least two decades (College Football). I have never heard South Carolina being referred to as "SC" until about 3-4 years ago. Now if folks from South Carolina call it that, that is all well and good. To me, the OG of the SC is that team from Southern California. Now we use to call the WBB program of SC the Women of Troy. I guess it is okay to call them that since there was a recent documentary about the program. For a while, folks were saying that it was inappropriate to call them "Women of Troy". SMH

So maybe they should stick with one name then. I have seen as of late USC is usually referred to the team out west and SC is used for South Carolina with speaking. I don't see how you give Southern Cal both monikers nationally.

Type SC in your browser and see what comes up. Southern California "SoCal" and "USC" These are the monikers that they mostly are known for. Apologies for digressing.

Well the first one is tOSU, so it's down to the other two.

Pretty sure search engines return results based on the region you are in amongst other things.

I'm middle aged abd this topic is tedious to me. I can't think how exhausted I will be with this topic when I'm 70.

If you can't figure out what team is being referred to by the context you might be lacking in tge ability to reason.
