Hi Husky Fans~
I thought would spread the unfortunate word.
I am devastated, as a fan. This makes our second starter from last year, out with season ending injuries.

I was so hopeful that we would give you all a run for your money at YUM this year. The potential still exists, as we are a long way off from our games with both you all and ND. But, the task just got much, much more difficult. We are suddenly a much younger team than expected.
Sad day for Cardnation!

So sorry to hear that Monique was injured. Didn't she miss last year, or am I misremembering?

I know you guys are in SEC territory, but the Louisville women don't use the SEC "Lady" monikers.

That sucks, particularly for a senior. Best wishes to her.

What is it?

The joint surfaces of the femur (thigh bone) and the tibia (shin bone) are covered by a smooth layer of cartilage that forms the gliding surface of the knee. This cartilage can be damaged in athletic injuries, resulting in a disruption in this smooth gliding surface. An osteochondral injury or defect occurs when a piece of the cartilage, along with a part of the bone underneath, is chipped off, leaving a gap. When the entire cartilage surface of the knee begins to breakdown, this is osteoarthritis.
What symptoms does it cause?

Cartilage and osteochondral injuries can cause deep pain, stiffness, and swelling. In some cases the loose body (piece that is broken off) may end up loose in the knee joint, causing locking of the knee (when the knee actually gets stuck with various knee movements or positions).

wow t hat is rough. she was a really good player for them. there's really nothing good about a situation like that, but it will force the younger kids to step up faster and improve more quickly than they might otherwise have, for better or worse...

unfortunately, Eric, that is already the case we are working with as Tia Gibbs is also out for the season with a torn labrum in her shoulder.
couple that with academic issues that caused our would have been point guard(Charmaine Tay) to sit out this semester(to be followed by a transfer out of the program just last week) and our kids are already attempting to step it up. The hope was Shoni would move out of point to SG, but that has not happened either with the Tay scenario.

obviously, these things happen. It is just not the scenario we were looking at preseason as a top 10 ranked team. Hopefully, players will step up in a big way to fill the shoes of the aforementioned kids.

As far as Mo being out last season, no, that is not the case. Last season was by far her best season. She did go out in the early minutes of the Gonzaga match up in post season play, with a groin injury. So, she ended the season hurt. That was the only game, albeit a very important one, that I know she missed.

Seems like the Cards have suffered injuries / illness to key players for the last several years now. It's a darn shame.

Monique did sit out three games and has only played 8 games this year. It appears she will be eligible for a Medical RedShirt year if she wants to use it.

NCor, that question was NOT on the last test.
