Well, that makes sense. And, it'd be pretty cool for ONE year (then hopefully we'd be out of the conference). I would definitely attend.

This is fine, and a no-brainer, but I would much prefer our TV rights. Do we have details on the "deal" yet?

They'd be stupid to move it from Hartford. Does any other NBE team even have a women's team with any semblance of a fan base? I can't see why they'd move it away from here when UConn fans will be the only ones attending the games. That's not a knock on women's basketball, just the truth. At least in the current BE there are a few teams that are good and have fans, I don't know of any NBE teams that fit that mold.

In all seriousness, what are the chances of moving the womens tournament to Mohegan Sun if the men go to Hartford? I think that would work out well

Hmmm...I think the casino might be problem.

Harbor Yards maybe? Or whatever the Fairfield thing is called.

So, how does he make a living, solely by selling ads on that site? Can that really pay the bills?

That arena hold less then Gampel. Don't know how much seating you need for women's but is half the size of XL.

I believe the men's and womens tourneys are on different weekends. So both can be in Hartford.

True but as it stands now with some teams from 1-2 states over, the average attendance for all games where UConn does not play is about 1,000.

Pac-12, WCC and WAC are all playing their tournaments at casino arenas in Vegas this year. WCC has been doing it for three years.

Also, the Hall of Fame tournament is at Mohegan Sun every year. Next year Louisville and UNC are there.

Harbor Yard is another good choice but im just curious as to why the casino would be a problem. Not to be a jerk but i think it fits the demographics for womens basketball fans as well. By the way the Hall of Fame Tip-Off tournament thats been at Mohegan the last few years has had a good field with UK, Ohio St. This November it will feature North Carolina and Louisville. It seems to me thats an up and coming November tournament. Id like to see UConn in it soon.

Blah. Can't they talk to the Brooklyn Arena? Put it there permanently. I would go. So would 2,000 Temple fans, 700 Cincy fans, 500 Memphis fans, 100 Houston fans, 75 SMU fans, 50 USF fans, 33 UCF fans, 12 Tulane fans and 3 ECU fans.

Do you think any other UConn fans might go besides you?

A-10 has a locked down five year deal.

Do you think the new conference is worth breaking that? Heck, you might as well root for the C7 to take A10 schools.

this actually isn';t a good thing. what this does is give every big conf a excuse to not invite uconn. look at the empty seats blah blah....

The only part of the article that got me a bit tingly was:

"Moving to Hartford would virtually guarantee a sellout because of the UConn connection, plus it would be the conference’s way of giving an additional benefit to UConn, which has made it clear that it would not hesitate to jump off the Big East bandwagon <b> should the Big Ten, ACC or Big 12 offer invitations."</b>

At least our delusions are being fed.

Frank Russo told this to the Courant. He's the XL Center manager.
F. Russo on Big East Tour at XL: "While this would be very desirable + something we plan to discuss with UConn we have heard no such rumor."

If, and I mean only if, we are stuck in this mess for the long-term (more than five years), it would make good sense geographically for Memphis and New Orleans to get a shot. Great party towns to throw down drinks, listen to music and eat great food for 4-5 days.

And to be honest there's worse places than Houston, Dallas, Philly and Orlando to visit for a conference tourney.
