Or does it mean Geno would rather have Quinonez?
Good question. But with Makeer stating she has an official visit coming up, I'd take it that Coach Auriemma would prefer Quinonez and Makeer, with Prawl on the outside looking in.

This commitment has surprised most of us but not the coaches. We can be confident that this wasn't a sudden decision on their part.

I actually enjoy these surprises.

The photo, thread # 30 above, shows me that Bianca has been to the weight room! And
as we have seen in other clips... SHE IS FAST! Stong, fast, and talented: A welcome addition to UCONN WBB TEAM!
GO HUSKIES!!
And there's an easy way to date photos of Blanca. The earlier ones, from when she's 15 or 16, she's not as ripped and also has braces. The photos without the braces and with all the muscles must be from when she was 17 or 18.

Well, I am still curious on her size. In the photo she is 4 inches taller than Geno so does that make her 6'2"? As a wing, I would hope she can shoot the 3 but none of the video provided showed her shooting, which is a mild concern. I am also disappointed in the lack of over-exuberance by @Bone Dog, usually they state outlandish comments like a "combo of Maya Moore and Tiffany Hayes" like they did comparing Jana to a Stewie/Svet combo....

Anyway, welcome to UCONN. May the force be with you....

She’s a quick player, seems pretty athletic, and can play good defense. We’re in need of one of those after Aubrey leaves.

Hey, I was exuberant. I was totally exuberant. I compared her to Maya like everyone else, and I also compared her to Jazzy and Juju. If you think I’ve mellowed with age, think again!

Blanca's team's web page includes this information about her:
Height: 186 cm = which is 73.2283465 inches = 6 feet 1 +++ inches... I
enjoy the .2283465 extra height!!

Nice to "hear" the part that Blanca speaks three languages. But it was quite a jolt to
me that one of those languages was NOT English! But consider, her fourth
language is one that they do speak in the Basketball Capital of the World....
That " language " is BASKETBALL! Question: Since one of Blanca's languages
is Italian... how much of a brush up course does Geno need?

.-.
I think her experience of total immersion learning of Italian will make the transition into learning English easier for her. I like how she talks about her basketball career and the lengths she has already gone to seek out ways to enhance her skills. A commitment that isn't easy for her or her family and totally different from the path available to US kids and kids from well established basketball nations like Australia or most of Europe.

But it was quite a jolt to

I thought I heard her speak a little English in one of the recruiting videos.

This is undoubtedly true. Now she just learn to needs to speak and read English before she gets here. Other than Spanish lang and Lit classes, every class will be taught in English, exams will be in English, papers will be expected to be written in English. I bet she can do it, and is probably working on it right now.

Reading carefully, one finds this:

“Quinonez, who speaks Spanish, Italian and the Molise dialect, exchanged questions and answers through email with CT Insider. WhileQuinonez, who speaks Spanish, Italian and the Molise dialect, exchanged questions and answers through email with CT Insider. While she does speak English, as of now, she told CT Insider that she’s more comfortable writing in the language. “

CT Insider needs a copy editor. They spell her name both almost correctly—Quiñonez—and badly—Quinonez. They manage to overlook the real spelling. Here's an example from an article in Spanish.

Blanca Quiñónez, la basquetbolista de Milagro que juega en Italia

While she does speak English, as of now, she told CT Insider that she’s more comfortable writing in the language.
That's good to hear. I suspect she'll have no language problems at all. Kids who already speak a few languages usually don't have trouble learning new ones and perfecting the ones they already have. Go Blanca!

I wonder if international students have different LOI rules. Blanca committed, but they never announced that she signed. Cold feet?

I was wondering that too. But I can't remember anything like that happening with Nika or Anna Makurat. Maybe something to do with Blanca being from Ecuador as opposed to an EU country?

.-.
Early signing period ends tomorrow, 11/20/24. Uconn could really use Blanca’s defense, athleticism and experience after Aubrey graduates. Fingers crossed Blanca signs by tomorrow’s deadline. Otherwise, we wait until spring signing period like we did for Sarah Strong. Geno says “we are not done,” so fingers crossed.

So, did she not sign? Or is this just some bit of news that is going to trickle out in a day or two?

No announcement, also not clear if international players are bound by the same signing rules. On the flip side, she had 15 points and 7 rebounds in a game yesterday.

Yerevan vs Campobasso - Full Game

Last game of the 2024 EuroCup calendar for Blanca; 26 min. 7/11, 16 pts (2/5 3 pts) 4 reb, 3 ast, 1 stl, . 20, in a 103-38 victory. Blanca took part in the last two games only. This win allows them to continue in the elimination round. A rather boring match against a much too weak opponent, one of the worst to participate in the EuroCup, 0-6 differential of -336.

This competition is second only to the EuroLeague in the European Cup hierarchy, with 48 teams divided into 12 pools of 4. With the top two from each group, the four best 3rd-placed teams and the 4 teams that didn't make it through to the 2nd round in the EuroLeague making up the final 32-team tournament. The 4 teams from the EuroLeague become the top 4 seeds and the 4 best 3rd become the last 4, while the other teams are seeded according to their performance in the competition's preliminary schedule.

Campobasso will face Spain's Girona in a best-of-two home-and-home competition, like the other 30 teams taking part in the elimination tournament (see attachment). This Girona team was in the same group during the competition, so the chances were slim that they would meet in the elimination round, but their final standings put them back in the running. The two games played between the two ended, in Girona with a 74-66 victory for the home team, the game in Campobasso was won in overtime by the Blanca team 97-90.

I've also attached EuroBasketball's latest top 100 rankings, which were updated yesterday. I've been waiting for the EuroCup preliminary calendar to finish before posting Blanca's game and team results. With an appearance in the EuroCup elimination round, Campobasso has jumped several places in the rankings to 20th, after starting the season 76th.

Easy to see that BQ is an exceptional athlete and knows what she’s doing. Get her over here to the states and schedule her a couple shooting sessions with Napheesa Collier’s husband and UConn’s got themselves a baller. Hope there’s no hang up with her recruitment/admission, she could be really good.

Do we k on why she hasn’t signed loi?
No, I don't know why as far as I'm concerned she hasn't signed her loi. I couldn't find anything on the web, even trying Google queries in Spanish with the local newspaper in Ecuador Primicias or in Italian with the local newspaper in Campobasso and the three social networks, Facebook Instagram or X, sorry.

Thanks for the efforts!

Match of December 4 - Highlights + Box Score

A somewhat similar match for her lately, 14 pts (4/8) in 23:43 of play. As is often the case, it was on her that the other team committed the most personal fouls, she was alert on defense with 3 steals, she made the other team pay with 5/6 at the free-throw line, but her shot from behind the 3-point arc was still her Achilles heel with only 1/5. A tough defeat for Campobasso against San Martino, who have just won their second game in a row after suffering 6 defeats since the start of the season. Campobasso's record in the Italian league is now 5-3.

Campobasso's next game is on Sunday, a league game against Faenza (3-5), followed by the first game of the EuroCup play-off round against Spar Girona on December 11. The match will be available online on the official EuroCup website.
