OT: Black Music Month - The Legends of Black Music

Milt Jackson - "Sunflower". Heard this one as I was pulling into the parking lot on a business trip to Houston many years ago. I was hooked, could not turn it off. Guess who was late.....:)

Always liked this song. Written by Stevie Wonder (and Melody McCulley)

Try Jah Love - Third World.

Wow, we missed these guys too. Just because they didn't actually sing the songs??? (Brad Howell and John Davis were black singers)

Blame It On the Rain - Milli Vanilli

Since this the last weekend on Black Music Month, let me know who you consider legends of black music. I'll start out with three of them and we'll work from there.

From my hometown of Washington, DC.

Try suggesting Dinah Washington, one of the greatest "black" female singers ever...

I didn't really get into trip hop until well after its heyday. But better late than never.

Okay, this guy isn't a legend, but I'm gonna include it here anyway. Local artist. I saw him at Folklife Festival one time and was really impressed.
