I was at the regional final two years ago when Texas A&M beat Baylor. However, that win didn't feel nearly as shocking as this one. Those two teams knew each other very well, and TAMU clearly knew what they had to do to beat Baylor.

I don't think anyone predicted this. I can't think of a more shocking NCAA victory in the past 10 years or so. Maybe 16-seed Harvard beating Stanford.

On another note, there could potentially be three Big East teams in the FF. Such a shame the conference is ending.

That was a huge upset, but in retrospect it doesn't seem as big, given Tennessee's recent decline. I think pretty much everyone had Baylor penned in for at least a NC game appearance.

Don't know where it ranks but it does prove how difficult it is to win a NC.

And back to back championships and undefeated seasons just seems insane now. Even with two of the most dominant players in the game.

If that happens, what a way to go out!

Duke over Tennessee in '99 comes to mind. Duke was a 3 though but Tennessee had won the previous three titles. Holdsclaw finished with just 8 points for the game.

I agree with Daddychoc. Ball State over Tennessee in the first round was HUGE. Stanford losing to 16 seed Harvard was HUGE. However I will say this one was right up there. Biggest upset of all time? No. But one of the biggest yes.

It'll be interesting to see how Louisville plays on Tuesday night. As shocking as the win over Baylor was, I wouldn't be at all shocked if Louisville loses to Tennessee.

I would be shocked if they do win.
It's very hard to get back up given the emotion of this win.

Louisville will never shoot that well again. For a long stretch they hit some unreal shots. UT will beat them handily.

Biggest upset ever, to me, was UT losing with Holdsclaw as a senior with Catchings on the team. They were two of the greatest ever.

Forgot about that 2001 SMS-Duke game....knowing how good Stiles was, and that Duke was led by a freshman (granted it was Alana Beard) I don't think it was really that huge of an upset, but man that was one heck of a performance by Stiles. The whole tournament w as the Jackie Stiles show up until the semifinals.

Id forgotten about that game

It's hard for me to compare Duke-Tenn 14 years ago to what just happened last night. Having said that, nothing about this Louisville team, nothing, gave me the slightest implication they could do this. The BET semis were an embarrassment. To go from that to beating Baylor? Impossible.

There are numerous great upsets along the way. There a few points that contribute to the magnitude of this one last night as "biggest" under certain definitions.

1) Baylor has in many maybe most corners been considered the prohibitive favorite to win it all. It has been said it was Baylor and the rest or Baylor and CT and the rest, or Baylor, CT and ND and the rest, but the common denominator has been Baylor.

2) After falling behind CT by 10 Baylor came back strong against UCONN's defense dominating the game late to win by 6.

3) The season started as to whether anyone could win "a" game against Baylor this season and might they be set up for a shot at UCONN's consecutive win streak at the start of next season.

4) When Baylor was beaten it was because Sims played about 5 minutes against Stanford in the loss.

5) The loss occurred during the tournament in the Regional before lots of viewers and when everyone knows it is one and done.

6) Baylor trailed but as much as 18 to L-ville.

7) Griner was essentially ineffective the whole game against a team with one player over 6'2".

8) L-ville looked to be in chaos as Baylor completed the comeback to take the lead with just 7 seconds and everyone thought it was over.

9) L-ville's key player Shoni Schimmel fouls out, Sarah Hammond fouls out, Bria Smith fouls out and Vails has 4. These key players are out of the game.

10) Baylor completed the comeback with 7 seconds left to take the lead. It all seems to be over. The world exhales.

11) Suddenly, the world gasps as Monique Reid who just missed the front end of a critical 1and 1 drives the length of the court to get fouled at the basket and steps up to the line for a team with no hope in overtime because of those players now relagated to the bench and makes 2 FTs with 2.5 seconds and the whole world is changed and the tournament becomes wide open.

I believe that the outcome of the Louisville Tennessee game is on Walz. Obviously he had them well prepared for Baylor. Can he dig down now and find the same or similar motivation to focus his team on Tennessee's vulnerabilities, and corral his team to be emotionally disciplined enough to go against Tennessee's press and come out with a victory?

I was in attendance for the Duke/TN Regional final. Last night's game was more of an upset than that one.... though I would put that as #2 on the list. I felt that Louisville had zero chance of a victory.... ZERO. While I didnt expect Duke to win....... I thought they had a chance..... maybe a 5% chance at best.

The important part of this game to me as that now every underdog will think they have a chance against a much superior team. Can you imagine how many coaches will be using this game as part of the pre-game of half time speeches

I'd probably put this game ahead of Harvard's win. As many will recall, just prior to that game, Stanford had two All-Americans (Folkl and Nygaard) go down with torn ACL's. Not only did that significantly weaken their team, it had to have taken a huge mental toll on them as well.
