Big Ten Triple Header on BTN network 12/28

Indiana won by 2 in OT and Nebraska rode a big 4th quarter (33-13) to a 14 point win over Michigan.

My first look at both Minnesota and Wisconsin although I was only able to watch the first half. Both teams began conference play having played poor non-conference schedules (Minn #165 and Wis #170 per Massey). Minn did have that home win over Syracuse but the #12 ranking may reflect the Whalen effect.

Whalen has the team playing hard and Bello is one impressive rebounder. The Gophers aren't a good shooting team but their hustle seems to win them a lot of extra possessions. They maybe look like a #15-20 team.

Just for kicks, I looked at the attendance figures for yesterday's Big Ten openers (I've noted the start time in parentheses, as this may have had some impact):
  • Indiana @ Illinois (7:00 pm): 1,622
  • Northwestern @ Rutgers (4:00 pm): 1,952
  • Maryland @ Penn St (7:00 pm): 2,259
  • Michigan @ Nebraska (8:00 pm): 4,450
  • Ohio St @ Purdue (4:00 pm): 6,313
  • Wisconsin @ Minnesota (8:00 pm): 7,918

Interesting attendance numbers Plebe. That doesn't look much better than some Pac 12 schools, who haven't started conference games yet.
