Maybe Curt Miller hires Coach P as player-coach....Here’s a question. Paige is only 23, but she is clearly the “face of the franchise” in Dallas. If you’re Curt Miller, do you consult with her before lowering the boom on Koclanes?
For those on the BY who listened to Geno’s press conference today, he did mention that he just got a text from Paige saying, “I miss you.”
Just sayin……….
I'd bet on SeattleOne wonders how long it will be before Sandy Brondello is announced?
Brondello has done less with more than any coach in league history. 7 years or so in Phx, won a championship her first year with Dee, Penny, Dewanna, Brit and Candace Dupree all in their prime, and then didn't win another. I could have coached that afore mentioned team to a championship. One wonders how long it will be before Sandy Brondello is announced?
One way or another, she’s going to be coaching somewhere. I’m thnking Dallas because she would have Paige and presumably a stud big right off the bat. That could make Dallas an attractive destination for free agents as well. Seattle, on the other hand is pretty old I believe though to be fair, they do have a major (and young) piece in Malonga.I'd bet on Seattle
Geno speculated that it might have been a "butt text". Hilarious, pure Geno. Here’s a question. Paige is only 23, but she is clearly the “face of the franchise” in Dallas. If you’re Curt Miller, do you consult with her before lowering the boom on Koclanes?

The FA intrigue for the Wings has a lot to do with two things: the new HC and Paige. The UConn connection could be big.The ability to potentially improve quickly for the lower level teams has never been higher than it will be next year. The CBA and huge number of free agents means the fortunes of many teams may be altered in a big way. Dallas has Paige as a significant draw but little else from a player's standpoint.
A top ranked coach could be the second biggest draw, particularly if that coach could help lure a former player as a FA catch for Dallas. Dallas is so far down that they need to snare multiple top line FA's to be a contender right away, but this is a year where that could be possible.
I think you could see a few "package" deals, where one FA might be reluctant to go to a particular location by themselves, but they talk among themselves and recruit a couple of other top free agents to join them, completely changing the landscape for wherever they go. Dallas needs a bigger arena, along with several other teams, and obviously new nice practice facilities are part of the competitive landscape as well.
There are many factors that determine how attractive a particular destination is for players. A top coach is one of those, particularly one that could lure a star player or two.
3 in the last 3. The buzz on the street was they we going to keep Koclanes. Knowing what I know of Paige I would not be surprised if she put her opinion on the pile. For what it’s worth, the Wings new HC will be their 14th in the 27 year history of the franchise, which also includes stops in Detroit & Tulsa. During that period the Wings have also burned through 10 GM’s.

Not exactly a stellar record which makes you wonder where the real problem lies. How far up the ladder shall we go? And if at the top rung where do you go from there? For what it’s worth, the Wings new HC will be their 14th in the 27 year history of the franchise, which also includes stops in Detroit & Tulsa. To the guy who hired the VideoMeisterNot exactly a stellar record which makes you wonder where the real problem lies. How far up the ladder shall we go? And if at the top rung where do you go from there?
Agree with everything you mention, old husky, but I would hope that whoever is making the decision on any FA's (and assume the new HC will definitely play into that significally) that they consider closely those team-first FA's (a sometimes rare commodity in pro sports) who will not be looking for a spotlight and especially those who will meld with their franchise player. However, from all of the comments here would expect her to be consulted for input - at least would certainly expect that. Any comments from those with better insight please let's hear from you.The ability to potentially improve quickly for the lower level teams has never been higher than it will be next year.
