A statement game against Marquette could be fun.
A "statement game" against a bottom-tier team?

Exactly - show the world the truth after yesterday's fiasco.
Unlike the BE women’s tournament at Mohegan Sun?St John’s plays 11 games at Madison Square Garden. Seems like a home court to me. Doesn’t matter when they aren’t good. When they are, though it is a little unfair, no?
Huh? Got on the train and get to Legends why don’t ya. Weird post.So kinda like the NESCAC. Top seed hosts.
I actually think the NBE Tournament is a waste of time and energy. Who cares if you win unless you are Seton Hall with zero chance at the real tournament…I get it is a big deal for most of the league. And for mid-majors. They are never winning National Championships. But for us it’s nice but unessential. Who would you rather be UConn 2023 or Marquette? It’s the basketball equivalent of the NBA in season tournament. The league had to mandate that they put up a banner or a plaque. And playing 3 straight days is not normal in the season so it can impact outcomes.
Very different situation. Just 2 things that jump out:Unlike the BE women’s tournament at Mohegan Sun?

Credibility? LOL! The Committee will do whatever is best for their masters in the big conferences. We'll win the BEAST tourney and Florida won't win theirs. Committee will have no choice to give us #1 unless they want even less than zero credibility.
I wanna party with you Francis! So kinda like the NESCAC. Top seed hosts.

As a lifelong UConn fan who went to Georgetown, I'm ready for the Hoyas to inexplicably win this tournament followed by Cooley getting a billion dollar 10-year extension followed by Georgetown losing in the first round of the real tournament by 40I swear this dude breathes to hate on the Big East. LOL on the nBE when no one refers to it as such
The Big East Tournament generates excitement and solid revenue for the league. It's the marquee conference tournament with decades of memorable history and you think its a waste of time and energy? LOL
It's probably the only conference tournament that doesn't feel like a waste of time/energy
I generally agree with you about the current BET, but I don’t share your excitement about its history since 1996. You try to insinuate Freescooter is a chump for referring to the current BE as NBE. I think most realize he was differentiating between the old and the new. The old was so much better than the new. With the old I would watch every single game from start to finish. The Big East was king back then. It was a great tune up and springboard to the big dance for UConn or any other BE school I would back. Now, I will watch our game Thursday. However, if we don’t play Thursday or Friday, then I will have no further interest in the BET. I am excited about our participation in the tournament, but it just isn’t for me what it once was.I swear this dude breathes to hate on the Big East. LOL on the nBE when no one refers to it as such

Except for the mid-majors I think they are all a waste. For UConn it is mostly negative. Lose and it hurts our ranking. Win and it doesn’t help. That’s true of any serious contender. For Power teams they are mostly in anyway. Even mid-majors get hurt sometimes. There is a high possibility that Miami of Ohio is out if they lose early in the MAC. Heck even if they lose late. French these 1- bid leagues don’t end up with their best team going.I swear this dude breathes to hate on the Big East. LOL on the nBE when no one refers to it as such

Maybe they're doing it so he doesn't leave or because they want SHU donors to pony up. This one doesn't smell right. Awarding a coach who went .500 is a bit of a kick against the meaning of the award. Not to sound overly salty.
I hate hate hate that coach of the year award if really just the "coach's who team exceeded expectations" award.
It's in the same light as the NFL MVP award, which is really just which QB had the most eye popping stats.
Would you have given it to Willard?Maybe they're doing it so he doesn't leave or because they want SHU donors to pony up. This one doesn't smell right. Awarding a coach who went .500 is a bit of a kick against the meaning of the award.
You know about the only thing accurate about this is that it generates revenue for the league. The “ marquee conference tournament” wouldn’t finish behind the SEC, Big 10 , Big 12, ACC and Mountain West in terms of audience. It has even finished behind the A10 a few times. Full disclosure we beat the Mountsin West last year. Its final won’t get bounced out of the prime time broadcast slot. The original Big East title game was the lead in to the selection show. Then it moved to Saturday Prime time. Now it’s Saturday at dinner time. Hardly a marquee time slot. But at least you can watch it and still have time to go out after.I swear this dude breathes to hate on the Big East. LOL on the nBE when no one refers to it as such

Yes - 15-5 first year off the Neptune disaster, to me a more impressive achievement, $$ or not. Swept the Hall. Only losses to UConn/StJ & Creighton once. Darned good year.Would you have given it to Willard?
I'd rather play Marquette or Xavier than PC. PC can legitimately beat St. Johns. The ideal path IMO instead of PC > Hall (rockfight) we get Marquette (revenge game) > Nova
I’d like to beat SJU in the final for another good Q1 win
The league is really bad this year, this is more of a process of elimination vote. Willard is the only other possible choice as every single other coach has underperformed in some way.Not to sound overly salty.
