Big East Portal Additions

Not exactly true. Yes they can credit/offset for taxes paid to other states or jurisdictions but if their main residence is New York they owe taxes on their full income earned anywhere in the world to the state of New York
I gave you the link above already. You apparently did not read it.

This one is going out.

Not a lot of big ticket gets yet other than PC's one guy. As expected, more outflow than inflow in the BE. I'm not expecting it to get much better TBH. The bottom half of league might uptick a bit.

Exactly. They pay income tax in every state they play. If your residence is Ny then if y play in Fla ny will tax y on that income since there is no offset.

If you are a Fla resident y pay tax in Ny for all your ny games, but nothing for games in Fla, tx, wa, etc…

another potentially larger issue is investment/royalty income. If y are NYC resident you pay tax on all that passive income. If y are a Fla resident you dont

Ny/Nj use a test (at least when i checked) that looks at time in your purported home district (FL) v time in Ny/Nj in addition to things like voting, where your kids go to school, claiming homestead etc. where your home base really is. But it can get squirrelly. Heard a story about a guy that spent 4 months in ny, 3 months in Fla and rest in Europe. He thought he was fine since only 4 in NY. Ny said he was still a ny resident because ny>fla and Europe didnt count.

But for athletes and entertainers it's different. There are special tax laws for them.
Not really, the tax rules are basically the same. They call it a "jock" tax, but they pay income tax in every city and state they play in as well as their home state. The income taxes paid in the each city and state offset the income taxes paid in their home state.

Hard to keep track of all this nonsense….losing Lewis was not fun. He is very good.. Adding DJ Wagner would give Nova a solid physical backcourt with some size. A bit of a Crowded house last year at the PG spot in Arkansas. Willard Definitely wants to beef up the squad a bit.
Heck, Brennan could barely defend much in the first half.
If he got in foul trouble we were porked. Goal was head into half w four fouls left. That ain’t gonna cut it.

for the "I thought international players can't/don't get paid" folks still stuck on an island...

I wasn’t a hater of Pitino but can see myself going there. I understand it’s a new normal but the guy is 73 and doesn’t care for the good of the sport. He’s gotta a backer and just going to buy 100% of his team. Does he even have any HS recruits?

I know Hurley said he may need to rethink his approach based on UM success, but having 100% transfers is gross IMO. Basically going to have the same 5-10 teams competing for the Natty each year. Going to end badly

What we're talking about though is NY taxing their total income from all states minus their taxes to those states.

NY does not do that.

This is why a NY athlete will never pay the top rate in NY.

If NY has 10.95% an athlete will end up paying 8.7% average in local taxes. So this is not an offset. If it were, a NY based athlete would pay 10.95% regardless.

This is definitely the most fascinating Boneyard digression of all time

A) That is not true.

B) You must hate this guy's game, since it is essentially the same as Acaden Lewis' game, except more selfish and out-of-control. He is a mediocre, wannabe scorer that is happy chucking silly shots as long as he is getting his points. He was a 40/30 2pt/3pt guy with barely over 1:1 Assist/TO in an offense built around him, and he put up that mess as a Junior. I don't think Cooley is a great coach, but I wouldn't be able to get rid of this guy quick enough if I was Georgetown.

Kid defends, had a rating just about near Silas. Smart player, with the right coach he'll be really good.

Pitino was very frank that it doesn’t make sense to recruit HS players anymore. Honestly, unless you’re getting a top 20 guy, he’s right. I couldn’t give a F about buying teams at this point. That is what the sport has become with NIL and the portal.

There’s not a person here who’d have an issue bringing on Flory or Mingo at stupid $$ if it got us a natty. And nobody would have an issue if some uber loaded alum started giving Dan Hurley a zillion dollars every year. The whole UConn is holier than thou BS is beyond lame.

That's a great pick up. They should have a squad next season- Enis, Swartz, Hudson Greer, Jasen Green, Traudt, McAndrew, Oswin.
And there will be a little extra sauce when Creighton and Providence play. Don’t know if Hodgson left Enis behind or what. It was thought he would follow Hodgson to PC by many (me included).

Only argument that I'd have is it does take a good year for kids to learn the UConn system. So there is some value in kids learning it year one. Key there would be finding the kid that is willing to be patient, with year 2 upside.

You are discussing Athletes that main residence is not in NJ or NY. Your assumption is correct if I am a NY Giant player but make my main residence in the state of Florida

It was done, then when ready to sign his agent asked for more money and a luxury car and Hodgson said see ya. He took Vanderpool, who frankly grades out as a A+ defender and is taller and stronger than Enis. Also I should add that the agent knows Self, and apparently and they set up a zoom call to leverage PC that was “leaked” to Hodgson who rightfully was po’d

Congratulations. It looks like hiring Hodgson is paying off already.
