Providence got money from who knows where. This years team surely wasn't cheap to assemble.

Xavier is having enrollment issues and knows that having a good/great basketball team is the most cost effective marketing tool to get more prospective students.

This is why I never root for some Big East teams. Not in the "it's good for the conference" crowd. Most people don't want us here. Most everyone was rooting against us in the tourney. St Johns will be good as long as Pitino is here but everyone else is huddled around the fire while we are out hunting and bringing home a kill so everyone can eat.
Btw, been to Rhode Island tons of times. It's not exactly the Paris of the northeast either.
While we were in the AAC before getting beat by Tulsa and completely hitting rock bottom, we managed to win a National Championship in 2014 in that conference. More than anyone else here has done lately.

We always root for Big East teams in the tournament..........except when they're wrongly put in the same bracket.
And other teams from the conference doing well in OOC games early in the season helps all teams, even UConn.

As to the 2014 Championship, it's almost my favorite team of all the Champions. Who could have ever imagined that that team would win more than one game in the tournament...........until we did it!
