She said Maya was her favorite player and the one person who she modeled her game afterward, and I'd have to say so far; she's obviously been paying attention to Maya's game because it shows...now hopefully she can have the same college and pro career as her as well.

She's UConn's best player right now, obvs Paige is the best player on the roster but Sarah is benefitting from defenses blitzing Paige and opening up the lane.

Yes with Paige. If I’m not mistaken, Maya wasn’t eligible to win POTW as a Freshman (though she went on to win POTY).

I didn't do an exhaustive search, but it looks like Maya won Big East FOTW 10x (as did Maddy Siegrist later). Is that the number you found as well, @MilfordHusky? (Not such bad company to be in!)

There is a lot of junk on YouTube and other social media saying that Sarah is our best player. UConn people know the answer to this, but it probably will continue to being a topic if Sarah continues her great play. Paige has had two lackluster games recently, so regardless of what the outside world is saying, Paige has to step up in the next two weeks against our toughest opponents to show what she means to us. I don't want this to become a team issue, so Paige needs to start playing again like the POY that we know that she is.
I'm not referring to UConn players specifically but I don't recall any freshman coming in and having hands like Sarah. If the ball is close to her she comes up with it and doesn't fumble it. I really appreciate how hard she plays and how humble she appears to be too. Juju is a very good player but I wouldn't trade Sarah for her. She will be the difference when it comes to the tournament.

Frankly, you could have stopped after the first 12 words. Woefully uninformed sources on any topic under the sun are always just a click away.
To my mind, the way we beat Louisville was the absolute best thing that could have happened for the health and confidence of the team: We blew them out despite little scoring from Paige. It's exhilarating to see after the numerous times over the past four years we've watched her teammates struggle to do much of anything on the occasions when she was bottled up by a well-targeted defense.
But then again, I care a billion times more about the team winning big games than any individual awards. I bet Paige feels the same.

I believe that Rebecca had the early BE FOW record at 7. Maya passed that at 10. Keep in mind that the BE was loaded then, with Cuse, Pitt, ND, Louisville, et al. Maddy also had 10, in the depleted conference that also excluded UConn.
Maya was the first frosh to be BE POY and BE FOY. The competition was strong and included Angel McCoughtry for POY. Angel had won the BE POY at least once previously.

Maddy is great, but that’s a good point that the Big East wasn’t the same level of competition once we and all those other big names left annd before we came back.
And how about Angel? Now there was a terrific player to watch. Jeff has coached some fun ones over the years.
