At the end of the broadcast Van Pelt asked Bilas who are the deepest conferences and he said Big 12 and SEC even after our second worst team beat 7-1 OU. Ridiculous.! At least they said ACC sucks (my word not theres)

Is not ESPNs job to hype the Big East. They will always hype their own partners. Fox should be the ones hyping us up but they don't control the sports market so it won't be as impactful

But for the neutral observer such as Andy Katz he mentioned the SEC and Big East are strongest so far

The Big 12 has mastered the art of scheduling mediocre but not terrible teams, so the league gets to March with a bunch of teams in the top 40 in computer rankings despite not having many marquee wins, and being overall average at best among the majors. I think this year will be different, but the good news is that the Big East gets to prove it on the court.
Every team in the Big 12 is a possible bubble team at worst. That is the top conference top to bottom. They don't have a Georgetown. The SEC is probably the most top heavy. The Big Ten is similar. The Big East is the #4 league. The problem is that the league only has 11 members and two are horrid (although Butler saved face last night). Also, nobody other than Nova is considered elite by the media at the current moment. Us, Seton Hall, and Xavier have a chance to change that narrative this year.

Marquette won. I will say that the refs did a great job in the KSU/Marquette game. Something I wish we could have had in Morgantown.

I don't know if they will win, but Seton Hall matches up very well with Texas.
  • Seton Hall has the size to match Texas' best offensive players
    • 6'6 210 Timmy Allen (13.3 ppg) matches up w/ Jared Rhoden 6'6 210.
    • Tre Mitchell will be matched up against Yetna/Jackson when on the perimeter and Ike/Samuel when he's inside. I expect him to be smothered
  • Seton Hall has the depth to match Texas'.
    • Both teams play 9 deep.

Since the Gonzaga game Texas has played a horrid schedule.

I will never forget the '17 OT win against Monmouth at the XL Center. At one point in the second half, a guy stands up out of his seat and yells out "what the [bleep] is going on here? This is [bleep] Monmouth!!!"

I imagine that guy is an active Boneyarder. If so, please out yourself and I will mail you a six-pack of a beer of your choice.

But for real though, King Rice is one of the more underappreciated coaches in D1. Monmouth is one of the better threats to take the MAAC crown away from Iona.

Seton Hall's shot selection is just terrible. They should be one of the best teams in the country, but they waste so many possessions with low percentage shots.

Edit: The officials are going through the official game log to count up the fouls. I have never seen a problem like this with the official scorebook in a D1 college game.

The Hall playing well down the stretch. Except terrible foul shooting. Ugh!

I was going to make a “I ain’t never missing” joke after Aiken’s missed FTA, but then his three-pointer shut me up.

Great win for the Hall and props to the crowd at The Rock. Great energy!!

I still can’t tell if Marquette is legit or not. All I know is Shaka was a home run hire for them
A great game coach. Enough said

Man, it’s fun to watch Chris Beard coach.

And Seton Hall has some real nice pieces. I don’t think I can ever really believe in them after watching them never be a real threat year after year but they have some players. Even Aiken looks better after guaranteeing he’d hit that foul shot he blew last year.

They got screwed in the Covid year, a lot of people around college basketball had them going to the Final 4.

Seton Hall's only loss is to a very good Ohio State team. They are legit. Their shot selection is going to hurt them down the road though.
