Ill never know what it was, maybe you do, but something seemed off with Oso at end of year last year, I sat right at your bench in the BE tourney final last year and there were some strange vibes there, and it seemed to carry into the NCAA tourney. I follow you guys pretty closely and something was just not normal in March last year, starting with the BET final. And it was more than dealing with Kolek's injury which was bad enough to end the season, but even when you got him back things just seemed way off kilter.
Marquette was banged up and NC State was on fire.

it does not matter , they won the games. Also, NC State was on a historical run and they beat Marquette by 9 points on a night when Marquette shot 13% from 3 . I would not call that a curb stomp.

LOL historical run my ass. If MU had just shown up to play, they would have won easily.

Players jogging up and down the court, rarely getting past the free throw line on either end. Passes sailing out of bounds over their heads or right through their hands. Rebounds bouncing off their faces and OB.

Kolek getting into the lane and drawing help defenders--repeatedly--and not a single teammate making a cut to open a passing lane.

Apart from Kolek and Kam Jones who woke up towards the end, that team looked like they we hung over. Or shaving points. Or both.

Did you not see Kolek bailing the court in complete disgust after that travesty? Lucky for him, he now gets to play with Villanova-built winners on the Knicks instead of those checked-out quitters.

I generally think Shaka is a great coach, and would love for him to be coaching my team. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and put the blame on the PLAYERS for that fiasco, not the coach.

Yet he brought most of them back to be the core of the team this year. What the hell?

And oh yeah, that poor shooting performance: a lot of it was due to players chucking up contested 3's early in the shot clock, without bothering to run any offense.

If you think that loss can be chalked up to simply a poor shooting night, then you missed one helluva train wreck.

If there was a stat for weird plays that don’t make that stat sheet but result in bad defense or bad offense, Marquette set an all time record in that game. There must have been a dozen bad passes to wide open shooters on the three point line that were off enough that the shooter was not open by the time they reeled the pass in. Not a turnover, but turns a high percentage catch-and-shoot 3 into something else.

It got to the point where people were wondering if Marquette was throwing the game for sketchy reasons. That game was BAD

But anyways, fun BE slate today outside of UConn. Marquette is playing Purdue at 9, Nova is playing UPenn which shouldn’t be a good game but will be a funny game.

PC is playing Delaware St and is -21.5. DePaul is -18.5 against Eastern Illinois. So let’s see if they do what they’re supposed to do, or if the BE woes will continue

Yup on that NCSt game / it didn’t look like Marquette wanted to be there. Very weird game and to someone ridiculously comparing to JC, never watched a JC team just quit in a tourney game. That Marquette squad just looked flat whole tournament.

Big East needs a Marquette win here, at home. May be one of the more important games to quell the current perception. It’s going to be interesting to see how they defend KRen as Gold isn’t exactly a formidable defender in the post.

gold never seems to improve. He was a pretty good 3 point shooter as a freshman. Should be a 10-12 point guy by now

He has no plan B on offense. If his 3 pointers are not falling, he really doesn't contribute a whole lot else on offense. He might have like one dribble drive where he attacks a close out, but really not much else. He never practiced or developed other offensive skills, or if he did, it's .not showing yet in games.
