Xavier was good in the A10, a mid major, until they had to replace their coach. Butler was good in the MVC, a mid-major then moved to the A10 we’re they were ok but not as good then the NEWBE where they have been ok at best and awful at worst.

DePaul was a market add but we’re chosen because they had

Make the case for returning to the AAC. I want to see what that looks like.

Nah, they both made sense. DePaul b/c they had history and b/c media markets were important at the time. Butler wasn't a flash in the pan, you just probably weren't paying attention to them because you didn't cross paths much until UConn rejoined the BE. Look at their history in the last 15 years. COVID disrupted what was really a solid program that continued to perform well despite coaching turnover. They really did make sense to add.

This is what I remember, too, was that Butler had good seasons in the BE prior to UConn rejoining in 2020. Lavall Jordan got over because it looks like he had his best team when coaching there (#5 seed) to only get fired later after some lackluster seasons afterwards. He is now on Chris Holtmann's staff in DePaul.

You know who else was good in the COVID shortened season? I mean really good with Final 4 aspirations.

Dayton with Obi Toppin (28-2).

In the Lahaina Civic Center in Maui, on the East wall behind one of the baskets, they have big pictures of some of the star players that played really well in that tournament in the past. That includes Kemba Walker, and you guessed it, Obi Toppin.

I'm not sure what it means but I'll take it. At least he didn't throw puke on there. No ACC teams. I would say cuse in the past maybe but the program stinks so bad now those fans may be dwindling.

Maybe we took different math classes at UConn, but if Xavier goes 12-8 in the Big East, they would have a 20-11 record, and if Georgetown did the same they would be 20-10.

Are we adding extra losses to Big East teams now?
That’s what I get for not using a calculator!

The BE isn’t very good this year. But the games are gonna be so much fun. Not the usual separation 3-11.

StJ PC in a great one.

StJ is will be an interesting matchup for us. What they don’t do well is shoot the 3, at all. I’m surprised Pitino left such a gap there. They do have 3 guys that can put the ball on the floor, two with size. Another matchup where Jayden may get run because I can see Kadari just bullying Solo. They look like a 4 man team. Liam will have his hands full with Ruiz, the key with him is keeping him out of the lane. Can also see Tarris getting a lot of run here because I don’t think Samson has a chance with Zuby, and the StJ team can rebound. Will have to limit 2nd opportunities. If we play sound here and don’t give them easy stuff and 2nd chances we win. Need Jayden to figure out his role and contribute on offense by the time we see them by latter half of season.

St. John’s just got a big road win. I feel more and more confident they will be a tournament team.

I think Creighton will climb out of the hole now that they got their Euro guy. I mean not into the top tier of the BE, but at least tourney good.
I was surprised he only played 3 minutes.

Probably easing him into game action? Was he able to practice with the team while his status was pending?

He is supposedly getting over the flu, but has been practicing with the scout team. That the starters were all playing well yesterday (happens every 3 games or so) probably contributed to his limited minutes. The key for Creighton seems to be Jamiya Neal. If he's on, Creighton's on. The hope is Zugic will fill the offensive void when Neal isn't hitting his shots. (Ashworth is the only consistent shooter right now.) We'll see soon enough. St. Johns comes to town NYE.
