If anyone thinks this situation is better than playing Houston, Iowa State, and Texas Tech or Louisville, UVA, and UNC in conference you’re not being honest with yourself.

This is not the old big east and it isn’t fun to play bad teams for 3 months out of the season.
Some of you are just setting yourselves up for a major freakout when we lose some Big East games.

It is a liability for us to be in the big east. It is far and away the worst of the power 5. Where am I wrong?
Okay. So why dont you ask Connecticut to return to the American conference? We all know thats the only realistic option on the table right now.

So That's it. You take the American or the Big East. The P4 FB confernces have show time and time again that they have NO interest in UCONN.

So I ask you - If you know the best option available right now is the Big East Conference then why dont you do your best to hype the league? The league that gave us a boost when we needed it the most and allowed us to return to top tier?

Hating on the league that gave you a hand when times were rough isnt the way to go. It makes us look bad as fan base and as a conference partner.

(And ofcourse - people like you are now going to claim in hindsight that Uconn was always going to win 2 National Championships with Danny Hurley even if they stayed in the American which we all know deep down is complete b.s! The American took UConn out of its geographic region and was slowly destroying UConn Athletics.)

If the current NET holds up, we'd play our next Q1 game on Jan 13 @Hall (NET 38)

@Butler and @Nova would also qualify as Q1 if things hold.
Does the committee use the quad ranking when y play the team or at the end of the season?

The american or the big east is not the only option. You can’t put lipstick on a pig, the big east is objectively not good and not the same level of competition as the power 4.

As long as we are not in a power conference, we should be taking advantage of our status as a national powerhouse and scheduling as aggressively as humanly possible. we should schedule out of conference games even after big east play starts, like Gonzaga does. Gonzaga is the closest example to us. They do everything in their power to not be dragged down by their league, and we will have to do the same going forward. And luckily, Hurley gets that. That’s why he is going to schedule even more tough next year. He understands what you don’t - the big east is trash now and we don’t owe them anything because we’ve given them their only relevance the past decade.

End of the season.

Things are in flux till the very end.

After all the shifting during conference play some teams will work their way to becoming Q1 while others work their way out. So there is no point on stressing out over this right now.

Just win the games in your schedule and the rest wil work itself out

If we had a better option for ourselves we would be in a different league. Right now the big east is the best option and you being on here whining in multiple posts doesn’t change that.

.-.
You are not getting it. Of course we will lose a couple games. The point is those losses will be BAD for us because they will not be against highly ranked competition. We should always be striving to play the best as much as possible, because we are the best.
We just played 5 games against ranked teams, by the end of the regular season we'll have played 7 or 8 games against ranked teams. In our back to back seasons we played 7 and then 8 ranked teams during those regular seasons.

You're not getting it at all, of course those are the only two options. If there was another option we would be in that conference.

We did schedule aggressively, it's why we're in a great position right now and for when they determine NCAA seeding.

Yeah, all out of the big east. Because it is terrible! Why are you okay with mediocrity? We should be clamoring as loudly as possible either for leadership change in the big east or for us to get into a better situation. I do not want be a mid major when Hurley eventually leaves.
You're not making any sense. As we've told you the Big East and the AAC are our only two options. We did schedule aggressively and will continue to do so. We'll have played as many ranked games tbis regular season as we did in our back to back regular seasons.

You're just venting and saying the same thing over and over even though you're not making sense.

.-.
Let it also be known that the stength of the Big East will vary from year to year. Our main issue is 11 teams...how many get in with 11 teams? 5 max. So what if this year we get 3...other years we get 4, 5.

We have no more non big east games for 3 months. We should change that. Schedule another two OOC games for Jan/Feb next year. Because from now on all we play are bubble teams at best and midwest mid majors (DePaul, Xavier, Creighton, Butler) at worst

Tell Hurley not to lose any games. The reality is if we lose a game to Villanova, Seton Hall or Butler, it'll help them a heck of a lot more than it'll hurt us.

Love to be a 1 seed. Thats not why we have the conference though. It is going to be the laboratory where we work out the kinks both individually and teamwise, in order to be ready to go come March. If we are a 2 instead of 1, it won't be ideal, but we would probably be the strongest 2 against the weakest 1 of the 4, and we would have had to beat them anyway(as a 2). Very confusing I'm sure, but makes sense to me.

Lets play some Big East games. Go Huskies!
You are absolutely correct. Our losses help them much more than they hurt us.

Which is precisely why I believe that the BE (refs) do that to us several times.during the BE season where other teams have not earned their records/playoff aspirations.

BE sucks.

How much?

Without the Huskies this year, they are the CAA.

BTW, how does a conference enter or exit the P5, exactly....

The SEC has an identical winning percentage against the major conferences and the BE has a better winning percentage this year than last year. The ACC is no better than the Big East. They have three second weekend teams; we have two but only 11 total members. Our #3 team (SH) beat their #4 team. Our #4 team (Butler) beat their #5 team (UVA) and the BE has a WINNING record against the ACC (and that is without having to face St. John’s or UConn at all).

Dude...

Im sorry to break it to you. But Uconn has been waiting since 2013 for the Power-5 invite, and now still waiting for that P-4 invite.

It hasnt arrived and it isnt likely for that invite to be extended anytime soon

So yes. As of today, and as of the past 12 years the only option is the Big East Conference or returning to the American (well. Im not 100% if the American would take us in again. Im assumming they will). Or maybe you want to try the MAC which would lov to extend an invite to a program like UCONN.

Point is. The Power-4 doesnt want us. So the best spot to be right now is Big East/FBS Indy.

I'll be the first one to support UCONN moving to the P4 if the invitiation is extended. But it hasnt happened as they have NO interests in us. As sad as it sounds

We got six in 2022 and Xavier botched the 7th spot that year.

You’re right there’s no other real option now. But might as well vent about it here not like the Big East isn’t a problem right now anyways.

There are not many reasons why UConn made the radical move to the Big East. But nowadays, those few reasons are already diminishing.

If we had stayed in the AAC, we would be in a one-bid league on par with the Missouri Valley.
