Big East OOC thread '25/'26

This is the danger of these frankenstein rosters, pulling together a bunch of kids who have no rapport who are coming together for the $$. That's not necessarily what you would call the "glue" a culture is built on.
Sometimes rosters just fit and sometimes they don't. Look at Kansas the past couple of years. All those expectations and veterans and they never really looked good. No hype this year other than Peterson who has been out and this group looks like a much better group.

No better example.

I'm amazed and the amount of euro centers in college hoops. We need to get our hands on these guys. Where did UM's come from prior to UCLA? UNC has one, AZ has one, UM has one, Illinois has one. Florida has one from Australia. We need to really start tapping this international 5 man network.

Reibe

So St John’s is just gonna commit 20 fouls a game and lose every OOC then come into the Big East, their fouls will be cut 25%, then they beat everyone

Great can’t wait
And Pitino will be lauded as having turned around another team.

Reibe
Reibe out of the US HS world. I think these other guys are coming straight from. I wouldn't know the first thing about how you tap that pool. All I know is we should start doing it - doesn't seem the American centers are all that deep annually.

Now a days just tap into the g league. Get you a 24 yo grown man.

Pitino is such a terrible loser. Barely shake hands with the head coach and then just walks off.
Also seems strangely detached. Where's the fire?

Where was the challenge on the ball that went off the Iowa St guy but called off St Johns? How do you not have someone assigned to watch the TV replays and call the bench to make a challenge?

Maybe he's done and checked out because he sure doesn't seem engaged.

Mara is from Spain. I remember seeing him as like a top 3 future draft pick years ago. He hasn't really developed like they thought he would, or at least he hasn't yet.

The year before that it was they had no lateral quickness. You do wonder when these kids catch onto the shtick and it becomes white noise.
But it's a completely new team outside of Ejiofor so they couldn't have tuned him out already.

I'm still waiting for our first Lithuanian. 😉

Reibe moved by himself to Germany at 14 to play with a club team and then he moved by himself to Maryland for his last two years of high school.

Reibe is going to be a beast as soon as he realizes how big he is.

The Michigan team has all the looks of a NC contender. They are big, and skilled. They are top tier based on what I'm seeing here. May is a great coach too.

Don’t trust Cadeau. Need guards to win in march. They’re gonna win a lot of games though

One thing he is is an effen Husky.

He looks a tad slow and clunky to me so far. He feels like he need a full year of college level fitness development.

I think he's good enough - he's definitely not a bad PG. It's the other 4 that are the real problem.

St John’s is a tough watch.

Sellers is good but had a tough shooting night but the rest of the backcourt kinda sucks. Darling is the pour man’s version of Diarra being forced into a starting role last year when he’s better suited to be a backup. Sanon is a JAG, not sure what the hype is there. Ian Jackson is a bucket but when you factor in his 3-4 turnovers per game and the fact that whoever he’s guarding scores twice as much as he does he a huge net loss too.

Also, while Ejiofor is obviously a great player, the next time he doesn’t throw his hands up and cry to the officials on either his own missed shot or him committing a foul will be the first time this season he hasn’t thrown a fit when things don’t go his way.
