Big East January '26 Thread

Looks like the Providence loss woke St Johns up
Yeah. I didn't think St. John's would be up big like this, but I did think they would win despite being in Omaha. Pitino's St John's teams have always caused Creighton issues. Historically Creighton has problems with athletic teams that can get up in the face of their players and disrupt their ball handling and throw off the rhythm of their offensive sets.. Plus Creighton this year is not great defensively without Kalkbrenner.

If there is one game they will be laser focused on it will be the game @ Seton Hall, lost 4 in a row there when Seton Hall was bad. They are playing good this year the place will be rocking.

The other ten don't appear to be doing the overall conference any favors today. Creighton may officially be in too deep of a hole this season at this point to find their way into the tournament and Marquette is going toe to toe with Nova, who needs these games to keep their resume in order.

F it. We need them to lose to get a vice grip on the conference reg season championship. After the BE OOC performance idc anymore

I really thought Creighton would be a lot tougher at home. They got punked by St. John's today. They got outrebounded by 13 and allowed St. John's to shoot 12-23 from the 3-pt line.
St. John's 90
Creighton 73

Welcome to in conference play especially in the Big East. Will their be some blowouts and easy victories? Sure, but they are the exception not the norm. Easy wins should not be expected.
Look no further than Michigan losing , at home of all places, to Wisconsin.

Marquette will not be down for long. They have a great piece in James, and I like Egbuono coming in and Norman and Steven’s growing hopefully. Obv need a few bigs in the portal (which it sounds like Shaka is open to this year) but this fan base is so good and the support on the NIL side is really good too. Wouldn’t be shocked to see them back in the top 25 next year

They're losing their best player, James looks like a potential All Big East type of player going forward but they need alot more around him. Tre Norman is a former 4 star who in year 3 is still showing nothing.

Shaka is a dummy. Down 3 and his point guard who is 7-9 from three with 30 points is running down the court and looking like he will line up a three. Shaka calls a timeout with 7 seconds instead and Chase Ross jacks up a ridiculous three for a brick coming out of the timeout.

I love it when posters claim an intraconference afternoon slate where two tournament bound teams win on the road is bad for the conference.

Both St John's and Nova have some work to do. Of greater importance, Nova escaping was a very good thing for their tournament hopes but if they lay a couple eggs against questionable BE teams (they easily can) their postseason will be the NIT.

If an imperfect storm happens, (we run the table, no other school wins more than twelve conference games) the conference will land a one seed, a double digit seed and nothing else. It was already demonstrated (when the BE got only three bids) that the committee doesn't view the BE as favorably as members of the Boneyard do.

PC apparently shot its load vs. us, as expected.
Yup. They don't have Jamier Jones either. He is arguably their best player and most certainly their most athletic and energetic one.
On top of that they are on the road so they don't have the AMP to pump them up and provide much needed energy.

You think Villanova and St. Johns are not going to the Dance? Are you predicting the Big East will get 1 bid? Please, please, please predict that the Big East will get 1 bid. That would be so much fun.

Seton Hall's offense has looked rough once conference play started, they looked much better in Maui and some of their other P4 non conf matchups
