Maybe from a metrics perspective the game doesn’t matter, but fewer Quad 2 losses would be good, and from a perception standpoint, coming out of a 3 bid league will hurt UConn in seeding.
Creighton is practically a lock. I’d rather we have a chance at conference title that worry about how this one game impacts computers.

I keep expecting to see Zugic do something special. Still waiting on that.

We're UConn. Hoping for the correct outcome in a game we aren't playing isn't a good look for us.

If we do what we need to do, whatever anyone else does won't matter. If we don't do what we need to do, whatever anyone else does won't matter.

Kalkbrenner is a nightmare. Him and Ashworth are basically Newt & Cling this year in how they play together.

Is this straight out of a Dr Seuss book?

Kalkbrenner has 29 points and 11 boards with 5:47 left vs Providence after starting 0/5. Providence is hanging around but they just don't have an answer for him

Corey Floyd with 16/9 right now as well

This one is over - classic case of a game where a team feels like they have to play 3x harder just to keep pace and then just runs out of gas to the much better team. PC is undermanned. Kalkbrenner feels like he could dominate if he had a bit more aggression. Creighton is going to be a very hard out - they play so composed.

I think Providence sucks but every now and then they have a game like this from outside. Did it against BYU.

Yeah, they don't foul and they don't turn it over. If they shoot it well, they're really hard to beat. Tonight they're 8/30 from 3 and still up 5

8 straight for Creighton. Incredible stuff from Kalk and Ashworth, they've really been incredible all season. 35 and 12 for Kalk, 23/6/6 for Ashworth

Ashworth is 81-83 at the ft line this season.

PC personnel looks every bit of a good mid major.

Let me put it this way. If UConn absolutely had to win 3 games, but got to pick its opponents from among the Big East teams, which three teams would you pick? Seton Hall, DePaul and Providence are my picks, and DePaul is the team I am least sure about.

Seriously? You think it’s dumb to be trying to win a Big East championship as opposed to one of ever so many computer metrics looking a tad worse?
Yes. If we win out that would include a win over Creighton and we'd catch them in the Big East standings. Maximizing the number of Big East teams in the NCAA tournament and thus more money is far more valuable

When he committed cbb media reacted like Creighton brought in a ringer. Late clearance but you would expect more at this point with all of the hype.

Yes. Yes I do.

And a 22 or 23 win Creighton team as an opponent is a lot better on selection Sunday than a Creighton team with one win less that lost to a tomato can like Providence.

Ideally both Creighton and Providence do well in their remaining games. Providence is near the 75 cliff for road Q1. Crieghton is near the top 30 Q1 cliff for home games.

The conference having over 25% of the teams in the 80s in NET (Providence, Georgetown, Butler) is not ideal. That's the annoying spot where it's kinda hard to win there on the road, but you only get a Q2 win for it.

.-.
The Big East looks like it is going to get 4 in. Xavier is a toss up but their remaining schedule is soft as butter. If they are able to win their next two, it is very possible they win out.

BE has 4 basically locked in 4. Xavier 50/50. They have 3 games that will determine whether they get in. @Nova and PC, home Creighton. I’d have to think they need to win 2 of those to lock it in, along with the rest of the schedule. They’d finish 21-10 and 13-7. Decent chance they can lose one more and still have a chance.

I think Xavier has to pound some teams to get in. They can't keep winning by single digits and get a bid. They need a metrics boost. They didn't budge in KenPom or NET with a 5 point home win over Georgetown. They need 15 and 20 point wins.

Let’s not jump the gun - they beat Marquette at home. Marquette is overrated, and slumping. They barely got by PC at home, was down big to Gtown at home. They barely won at PC. I still don’t see what I’d call a signature win, which to me is a top 4 BE team on road. A win Friday could change that narrative.

They lost at Creighton. Shot 36%.

I want to see them beat us, or win at Marquette, or beat Creighton to feel they are good enough to overcome the awful shooting. They dropped to 340 in the country in 3pt% after last night.

Friday is huge, for both teams. I might even say it’s the biggest BE game in last 3 years given the variables on both sides. It’s Hurley/Pitino, B2B against the new hard charging Jonnie’s and fully resuscitated fanbase. A win by either team amps up the fan-base x100. It legitimizes STJ and it makes the Husky faithful really start believing another run is possible.

If we win and close the gap, it sets up that MSG game up to be a fireball. It would be 7 straight games we beat Pitino (Iona included) and him looking for blood.

This one is going to be close to a pickem too.
It’s huge for them. Last 2 years we’ve had 12 big games when it counted. This is in league early Feb.
We don’t have our team at full strength yet with Hass and McNeeley the way they are.

Marquette vs. Creighton is a pretty good game.
Not bad - Joplin generating lots of offense for Marquette, which is not the position you want to be in.

I repeat, Ben Gold might as well be a mannequin out there. If I’m Shaka I’m not rolling into next season with that guy my 5.
