Ask yourself some questions: Why would the American allow us to stay as football only? What is in it for them? Our basketball programs are top notch, why would the American let them walk with no repercussions?

My guess is that if we tried to move the other sports, the American would boot our football program. Outside of a P5 invite, the American is the best place for our football team right now and that it what matters.

The Big East gets better cred which leads to better rankings (see overrated Villanova every year) and better seed lines (see Villanova again). Perception is reality. The Big East in basketball is considered a power conference, the American is a high mid-major.
