One of the things you notice about. Xavier they have multiple guys that can handle

Carroll, however, is definitely not one of them. He has looked horrible handling the ball here in the late stages and overtime. He has been stripped at least 3 times if not 4 starting with the last possession of regulation. He is single-handedly killing Xavier's chances at the upset.

Someone should tell Carroll to stop the right handed crossover between his legs. That is 3 times in a row he lost the ball on that move.

What an absolutely pathetic conference. WWE style officiating. I’m annoyed Hurley is “tame” this year in regards to it. He should be using his postgame presser to excoriate it and the league. Shame them. Instead he seems afraid to get fined which is lame.

Wow horrible decision making down the stretch of both regulation and OT for Xavier. A gift win for STJ.

.-.
I knew this was going to happen again this season when they were dropping out of conference games. St. John's is so annoying, they stink it up out of conference and then they're allowed to get away with so much in conference and they beat everyone.

sju with 28 free points on 68% ft shooting. x committed 30 fouls!

I didn't watch the game so I can't opine but something smells rotten

41 FTs for Team Pitino Sr.
17 for X

This is ridiculous. Come on, Val. You’re gonna get run out of your job, hopefully, like you did from the WNBA.

I want SJU to lose again but not to Xavier that doesn’t help us or the BE. I want a borderline Q2 to beat them so they can get bumped up to a Q1 team
Way too deep into the computers, we need those dudes to lose to whoever

.-.
Huge difference in the OOC you don’t go into a game knowing you’re gonna get 2x as many free throws and you’re gonna actually get called for fouls.

It was funny to hear Dan Hurley stress how they were built to win "in the Big East", he knows they're not winning bleep once the tourney starts but they're hell to deal with in conference due to their talent and play style.

These Big East teams are pretty much all the same, St. John’s is just the boss version of them:

  • Mid team
  • Play hyper-aggressive and dare the refs to call fouls
  • Expend all energy against UConn
  • Tank the next game
Nova isn't like that at all and Creighton is one of the least fouling teams every season but St. John's, Providence, and Seton Hall have for sure played this way over the years. Marquette somewhat.

.-.
St. John's just makes teams become braindead. First Seton Hall forgets how to rebound or make layups and blows a 15 point lead at MSG. Three weeks later, Tre Carroll forgets how to dribble in crunch time and Xavier takes a fadeaway two when they're down 3 with 20 seconds left in OT. Oh and they gave up 3 offensive rebounds on St. John's misses during their final possession before SJU got a tip-in to tie at the end of regulation.

Wel when you can physically assault a team for 40 minutes with no consequences that will get in a teams head.

I did not watch this game but came into OT which went on with fouls, but this scenario where SJ was not even in foul trouble and doubles up the opponent, when they guard attached to players is about what happened with us. I seriously ask to those who watched are the refs just not calling them or am I just a SJ hater? (I am)

a long fade away 2 there is such a boneheaded decision
I think he expected to create some space with that little push off shoulder bump, but didn't. Then he panicked because he knew he was wasting precious time.

Still, not a good shot at all

Fine, most of them

Definitely not calling them.

They showed a closeup of a Xavier player at the line. Dude’s body was all scratched up.

Yeah that happens when you’re constantly fouled for 40 minutes and the other team gets 40 FT attempts. It’s not magic.

regarding fouls, let's just say, Pitino is connected

Xavier might have cost Danny a BE Title tonight. Talk about giving a game away...

Xavier should have won that game in regulation. It was right there for the taking. I can also see why Richard was not happy with the incredible free throw disparity. The Huskies need to win the games in front of them and be ready for the Red Storm coming to Hartford in a couple of weeks.
