I think Ash should've made 2nd team too. Blanca deserved the other awards and maybe 2nd team as well, but Ash played all of the BE season and Blanca missed several games. Ash's offense may have been less impactful than last year, but her defense was critical to what we wanted to do.

Great to see KK also named to the 1st team along with Sarah & Azzi. Congrats also to Blanca. The X-factor is no longer an X-factor. Congratulations also to Ash, our Eveready Bunny, who never stops working.

In winning both the CPOY as well as the CDPOY, Sarah joins Hidalgo (ACC) and Betts (Big 10) in winning both conference honors. Now that the P4 conferences along with the BE have all chosen their CPOY’s, the voting for all of the NPOY’s comes down to 5 players: Sarah, Betts, Hidalgo, Miles (Big 12) & Blakes (SEC).

In reality, the NPOY awards come down to 2 players: Blakes & Sarah. Blakes has had a wonderful year as a “high usage” scorer for a remarkable Vandy team under Shea. But imo Sarah does a lot of everything at the highest level for the Huskies. She is the NPOY. Her biggest obstacle is that she plays for a great UConn team that doesn’t need her to score 30 ppg and she usually watches the 4th qtr from the bench.

Sarah started the NPOY awards off by winning the Athletic’s honor. I suspect she’ll win most. But I would not be surprised if Blakes also wins several.

Ash has to be the most under rated guard in the country. She's the swiss army knife you miss the second it's gone

Came here as soon as I saw it to say exactly that. Unfortunately over the years the UConn effect and the need to let other programs share has led to individual injustices in the Big East and in All American selections. Ash is an All Star to me.

They is The Athletic, who came up with a pretty good 11 player AA team broken down to a 5 person 1st team and a 6 person 2nd team. As the poster suggests, Sarah was on the 1st team and Azzi on the 2nd. UConn was the only team with 2 players and Sarah was the Athletic’s choice as NPOY.

The rest of the 1st team includes Betts, Blakes, Booker and Miles, all great choices. There is absolutely no argument on Betts, Blakes & Sarah. I guess you could try to make an argument that Azzi deserves 1st team more than Booker or Miles. But both players have been outstanding all season and arguing that Azzi deserves it more than they do is really just sour grapes.

There is some conversation about Azzi not being on the all defensive team. If you guys had to pick the second husky on the team… who would you have chosen? I would go with Azzi personally.

I just think about the game against Michigan in particular. Azzi locked down Syla swords. But when KK tried to cover Syla… she had some success.

Not sure if I understand your question. But if I’m rating UConn defensive players in order, they would be as follows:

1 Sarah
2 KK
3 Azzi
4 Blanca
5 Kayleigh
6 Ash

Ashlynn WAS way under appreciated in this poll. She is 4th on the team in scoring, 3 -pointers, rebounds and as even Geno admits is too important to take out of the game. Ashlynn has the stamina of two players by how much she covers THE WHOLE FLOOR defensively with non-stop tenacity. In my opinion she deserves better. GO ASHLYNN!!!!! GO HUSKIES!!!!!!
