Why????
My wife is of the opinion that Aubrey "IS" UConn. I've already suffered her wrath when upon sharing the MVP voting thread with her this morning. :)

Wonderful News (but Aubrey should have been selected at the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year)
Can't argue with any of the selections, but like others have mentioned, I believe first team should be only five players, by position, because that is what a first team would normally be made up of (ol' school mentality, sorry). Also, although Aubrey is a sensational defender overall, Geno has pulled her numerous times for missing defensive assignments or not closing out on shooters. Nika is consistently in her opponents face, and never backs down. Just my opinion.

Huh, well I guess everyone has their own opinion.

The BE coaches probably voted for Nika because no other player gets their block knocked off more than she does.
Nika is like one of those Rock'em Sock'em Robots.

Love Nika, but they made the WRONG CHOICE for this award. The Award should have gone to AUBREY GRIFFIN - Hands Down/No Doubt. (Gino should have lobbied harder for Aubrey for this award)
I would suggest, she did not play enough.

We all know that for these kind of post season awards, allot of it is "Political" in nature and the other 9 coaches talk with the Head Coaches of the players that they are considering to see which one's they (the Head Coach) would want to be placed up, in lieu of another of their players, for any given award. - It's not like the Sportswriters Votes for Post Season Awards, where there is mostly ZERO Politicking going on. PS - When UCONN played all of the Big East Teams this season, what UCONN player was "Primarily" (not saying 'Exclusively') placed on the opponents BEST OFFENSIVE PLAYER? (ex: Maddy Siegrist, etc, etc). It certainly wasn't Nika Muhl. But rather Aubrey Griffin.
This is not true at all. Go back and actually watch the games. Siegrist and Morrow are the two best ACTIVE offensive players in the BE. Edwards played 26 and 32 minutes in the two DePaul games and 40 and 37 in the two Villanova games. For every minute AE was on the floor, other than transition plays, she started every single possession as the exclusive defender on those two players until a switch was forced. In the most recent Villanova game, when covering her head to head, she gave up only 9 of Siegrist's 21 pts playing those 37 minutes. Edwards is who Auriemma trusts against the iron.

WRONG, it was Nika that shut the other teams best guard down. Most of the time when Nika's "man" scored it was becuz Nika had gotten screened off and ended up guarding the biggest player on the other team and she did a GREAT job of that too.
Dont even go there at Aubrey was better. She wasnt...NO ONE in the Big East was as dominate of a defender as Nika.

A take that I'm surprised to read here, but it's been my thought much of the season that Aaliyah has been the Huskies' most effective defensive player this year, then Dorka, followed by Nika/and/or Aubrey.

Those who argue about how nobody gets by Nika really need to watch the games more closely.

Either Nika or Aubrey would have been worthy of the award, but why the gratuitous shot at Gino. Seems like he's got enough to do already.
Seems to be the year for gratuitous shots.

How do you know Geno didn't lobby hard for Aubrey, assuming he could even vote for his own players? There are 11 teams in the league, so, again, assuming he could vote for his own players AND felt AG should win over NM, the other 10 coaches felt otherwise.
