Big 12 Meetings

If the article carries any truth, Cincy may be in if the conference wants to throw WVA a lifeline. I think the question you guys need to address is who is your competition for the 12th spot?

There are first choices for some schools. It is well known that WVU would choose Cinci. It's also believed that KU strongly supports UConn. Aside from that, we have no idea. Cinci is not a lock. The reports on their market reach and penetration were evidently below what was expected. It turns out (shocker, I know) that nobody in Ohio outside of Cinci cares about them and that they are #2 to Ohio State even in the Cinci-Dayton DMA.

Joe D and Gresh are going to be talking about Big 12 expansion. I think they're on until 7:00.

Kirk Bohls on Texas’ potential decision to fold the Longhorn Network into a Big 12 Network:

“This promises to be an interesting month as the Big 12 prepares for a meeting of athletic directors at the end of May to discuss the conference’s future concerning expansion and a possible television network. I still see no willingness on Texas’ part to fold the Longhorn Network into a Big 12 network, even if the league gives the Longhorns an extra $15 million share to cover its LHN income, because, the Texas source said, “we would get the same money, but lose our branding and having our own channel? Not very compelling. If we get rid of LHN, it will be to change conferences, in my opinion.”

Ugh, I'm getting sucked into the Conference Realignment Vortex... you know the one where you actually believe we've got a decent shot to move to a P5 league.

Sigh, I know what happens next...

So UConn has a few Edsall years in the sample size to take the sting off the PP years.

Joe D and Gresh are going to be talking about Big 12 expansion. I think they're on for 4 minutes out of every 10, thereby alienating their audience until 7:00.

FIFY

Seriously. That crosses the line well beyond sports opinion writing all the way to an anti-UConn hit piece. He twice goes out of his way to mock UConn; the other AAC schools get a mere "no thanks".

Better to be hated than ignored?

Wonder if his paycheck comes out of Stamford or Philly?

Keep thinking the worst than anything better than that is a win.
I use to be an optimist, But a steady diet negative results beats you down.

Bob Bowlsby said the research done by Navigate was based on 10 seasons of data and 40,000 simulations.

Simulations included everything from 10 to 16 teams, championship or no championship, 8 or 9 games, how hard the 8 opponents were, etc.

Bowlsby: "the Playoff is the topic du jour, but it's far from the only factor" that would determine whether to expand.

If they're mostly focused on a playoff and no network it's a short-sighted compromise for Texas to retain their LHN branding while the future of the league only marginally stabilizes.

Joe D is asking if UConn should take a B12 offer or wait for a better opportunity. Gresh says Cincy and Memphis are the best fits. That's about all you need to know.
