Big 12 Glass Court Surface

Is that for real? That’s consequential to the rules of basketball and an untenable error in design. I really don’t think I’m just being cranky and anti-change when my reflex to this is that the digital court stinks.
Apparently it is there but it could be "bolder" to stand out more

I wonder what kind of glass it is? Something like gorilla glass can be thin while also being super strong and scratch resistant. And protective coatings or structured surfaces could be added to achieve the same grip as the clear coats that are on wood floors. The thin glass could enable the floor to be designed to have the appropriate "bounce". I like the idea of having courts that can be easily changed but, yeah, it still has to be appealing and functional. The court can also be connected to the shot and game clocks to make violations easier to call.

Idk if the first guy is being accused of editing the picture in his post or not, but you truly cannot see the line whatsoever in that image. Idk, I admit it’s cool technology, but I just think there’s no improvement made by it or needed in the first place.

If I'm a player I'm real nervous about knee injuries.

To this day I am convinced that Kevin Ware of Louisville suffered that gruesome broken leg injury because the floor was elevated - and his body instinctively tried too hard to stop on a dime before falling off the edge. No way to prove that of course. But I think a regular floor level floor and his brain just lets his momentum carry him out of bounds.

Wow, what a terrible design they used in the images captured above - and I agree, the way the halfcourt "line" is being displayed isn't very good with it's super low contrast.

I wonder if this will impact officiating at all - like do will they still go to monitor to review a 2 vs 3 with foot on line? Or just use sensors on the court
