BET Non UConn Games

Also starts almost all of his replies with multiple questions. It's an annoying pattern.
I like to allow the other side to draw on their own conclusion based on a question rather than forcing an opinion down the throat. If you'd like a form more stylistically conducive to how you absorb a point, then I can do that for you. I'm flexible like that for you BF.

I cannot see what? The view that this StJ team is comparable to that SDSU team? How anyway? Style of play? Quality of player? I think this StJ team is much better - maybe it's subjective, but the KenPom certainly supports that view. Do you think any non homer would say that the ease of path in the tournament doesn't matter? Do you think any non homer would say that two fields can have significantly different qualities of team?

Do I appreciate they won the Mountain West conference? Um, sure. Kind of a stupid point. This whole argument was about comparing StJ to SDSU. I think this StJ team would handle them easily. Let me revisit the SDSU starting 5. LeDee wasn't much of a factor on that team, came off bench, blossomed into the next.

Lamont Butler - 6'2" G 9ppg
Keshad Johnson - 6'7" F 7ppg
Matt Bradley - 6'4" G 12ppg
Darrion Tramell - 5'10 G 10ppg
Nate Mensah - 6"10" C non factor offensively

You think that team right there matches up with a team consisting of the BE POY, Kadari Smith and Zuby? That was a thick, short, fairly unathletic team that grinded you down physically. They made a run on a nice path, beat down a soft Bama Brandon Miller lead team that year on their way and then got favorable matchups.
You continue to miss it.

This whole post was irrelevant to the point.

You’re doing to SDSU what you’re accusing others of doing to St John’s. You’re completely discounting what that team did to prop up an St John’s team who hasnt accomplished what they did yet. All for the purpose of your argument. You’re just so determined to prove your point that you are blind to it. Whether that SDSU team could beat this St John’s team is an objective opinion as they could never actually play. They competed with 2023 UConn who is better than this St John’s team and beat 2023 Alabama who is better than this St John’s team. It isn’t a knock on this St John’s team to say that team would be an interesting tough matchup. See how I’m able to give both teams their just do without ***** on the other? For what it’s worth I think that SDSU team would beat this UConn team .

To add, haha’ing the MWC is cool. But they got more bids than the ACC last season. It’s a legitimate conference.

Also you talent observation is off. Saying Ledee, Tramel,Bradley, and Butler were not impact players is silly.

And what he accomplished this year is an an achievement but hardly as impressive as people are making it. Yeah, he built a team of transfers with Mike Repoles money. St John’s ran the table in a year where UConn, Nova, Creighton, and Marquette had down years. Are they good? Yep. But this talk of best of all time because of this is pure lunacy. Whoopty do.

Historically, what Danny accomplished the last two years and how he accomplished it is 100x more impressive. St John’s wasn’t a rebuild it was a purchase.
Pitino has a history of buying very good to great teams in the past, why should we or anyone be surprised with it being legal now

I'm not comparing the two at sake of not giving SDSU their flowers - they earned them deservedly. All I'm saying is let's not evaluate that SDSU team based solely on their tournament run, against a team of another year. The only way to evaluate is player/player and coach/coach, with the support of the computers. I recall that SDSU team well stylistically.

I would firmly agree that SDSU team would beat this year's Uconn team - but that's not a lofty accolade. We are a 35thish best team in the country this year.

Let's not forget, Seton Hall lead Kadari teams beat the 2023/24 and 24/25 team. Now he's with a much better cast. I wouldn't be that confident our 2023 team walks through them that easily. My view is that I'm seeing a lot more taking away from the quality of this StJ team than I am discrediting comparibles. They are the 1 KP team defensively in the country.

Just have to correct that Kadary's Hall teams beat us in NJ in 21-22/22-23/23-24. He averaged 23 pts across those three games.

While I wouldn't list them as a favorite against any of the #1s, I think SJU has a chance against everyone but Florida. They're the only squad with the depth to keep SJU's physicality to wear down their team. And I think Pitino can outoach any of those teams, making necessary adjustments. Of course a tightly called game does not favor them, so that's the big variable IMO.

Rick Pitino has the cleanest balls in college sports thanks to the Boneyard.

You and I are thinking very similarly.

Ok I have the matchup right here, 2023 SDSU vs 2024-25 St Johns I'll run a simulation. I'll make St Johns the home team on a neutral court.

SDSU wins 82-63

Who runs that simulator? Ant?

It definitely doesn’t jive with KP and that score is so ridiculous (SDSU probably didn’t score 82 all year and against StJ?), I’ll just assume a kindergartner in their basement made it.
